Is this like the 'Night of the Long Knives' when John Major took over from the Iron Lady?
We make our world significant by the courage of our questions and by the depths of our answers.

Now that beats watching the Ashes Bob ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
All their bagging of the ALP for back stabbing, back room deals and political shenanigans and what do they do? They perform before all of us the political assassination of the rAbbot. Comedy gold from the Tories. And massive - beautiful KARMA

Oh dear! ............ more bad news.
Apparently you need to serve for 2 years to get the PM's perks and pension. =D>

Tony Abbott's two-year anniversary as prime minister would have been on Friday. The few days between now and then affect his entitlements.
ABC political editor Chris Uhlmann:
"He would have got them if he made it to Friday so it will appear he won't get the prime ministerial pension.

So what other adjective would you prefer, to describe a nation, who have had 5 Prime Ministers in 8 years?ronan01 wrote:

Unlucky?
Yes, the big question from jack - will Abbott do a Rudd? I think not. I have Rudd down in my book as the worst of the lot in recent times.
I think Turnbull will only promote liberal social causes if there's votes in it for the Tories. He'll be aware his colleagues' knives are still sharp.

I really don't think that anyone should weep too many tears at the ex-PMs' misfortune at missing out on the PM pension Jack.
I understand that he will still get what most working folk would consider a individual's ransom for his time in destroying the nation...

The exact amount of entitlement Mr Abbott will receive is yet to be determined, and would also take into account his role as a minister in the Howard government and the length of time he served as an MP.
He still qualifies for $300,000 a year in a pension for serving two decades.
Fairfax Media reported the rules allow him to take up to half of it as a lump sum, where it is paid at 10 times the amount sacrificed - a lump sum of up to $1.53 million.
Like previous PMs, Mr Abbott should also receive an extra $300,000 a year with which to maintain a staffed office, plus travel costs.

I find it amusing that Aussies hate their politicians as much as the US guys hate theirs.

Ronan01 might be kind of mourning but his view that Shorten is absolutely hopeless is now going to be really put to the test. The Libs are now much more electable.
I hope Hockey is out on his arse and not even in cabinet. I also expect quite a few Liberal sheilas to get promoted by Turnbull.

OK, if you were Turnbull, what would you do with Abbot? Perhaps make him High Commissioner to NZ so he can see more of his in-laws. If not that, what? Perhaps High Commissioner in London? Or open an embassy in Damascus?
