Mekong River near to flooding

At least ,no one got surprised here!It had been a steady creep upward!

Still no rain today but now most of the streets and sois are flooded as the drains are full!

My quiet neighborhood had 2 dogs barking all night long in the yard next to mine!

A falang,so I went over to complain!Temporary situation until his until the water recedes from his friends home and yard!

BM, He was previously playing with the engine. Though at that moment maybe he was trying to save face, by switching to washing his wheels!!

I have been trying to post some more photos taken further down the road where there is much more flooding, but the Isarapix server seems to be down, so I have been unable to do so.

Here are some photos from mid afternoon today, taken at the end of some of the blocked off sois further down the river road in Nong Khai. There's about a metre of water being held back by the sandbanked barricades at the end of about twenty sois.

If you look carefully, you can see two large pumps jettisoning water over the wall into the river.

















That's the road that they are swimming and playing in, in the last photo.

as this flood subsides and the local authorities review their repsonse etc, your picts will also assist them in updating the emergency flood repsonse.

Times of day, Picts showing the height of sandbags, locations etc are all great evidence to have on file for future planning.

The picts with the sand bags clearly show they are working.

Well I'm back in old UK so not affected by these floods, but your pics are so good I'm addicted to looking for new ones everytime I come home from work.

Whats it like around Tha Sadet market place..?

The water level this morning is the same as last night.

The Tha Sadej market, the new promenade area, boat jetty, and area around Brendan & Nois are all still Ok. The water level there is about 1 foot below the top. Where for example the bandstand type area is just beforet he boat jetty, the water is one step below the top.

Unfortunately I will be doing some more moving house today, and will be leaving for the UK via Phuket tomorrow, so won't have much time to post more photos. I'll have one more look around, later this afternoon.

I am assuming this problem is only on near the river. further inland is it OK ?
I have to go to immigration later in the month would I be facing any flooding problems ?

I understand much of Tha Bo area is flooded and Sri Chiang Mai.

This morning the water level here in Nong Khai town centre and riverside is about the same, but last nights rain has had nowhere to go and the drains seem to have given their water back, as Prajak Road is now flooded to about 1.5 feet in places.

Ironically Meechai Road - the one closer to the river is still dry, but Prajak Road further away, but lower, is flooded (as I said from the drains).

The river has not risen in the last two days,but it is to high for the city drain system,which has been full for two days!Consequently,any showers that we have received just stay on the streets and the water gets slowly higher and higher!

Lee, I don't know how to do what you are suggesting.

I do find it a chore having to upload via Isara all the time too, and I assume it's part of their system that it produces a small image. I would be happy to upload form my own PC direct to Udonmap.

Just use the last option 'Direct link to image' after uploading, and just add [img]at%20the%20begining%20then[/img] at the end arjay.

Click on the box labeled img, paint and do a control C on the "direct link" option on the isarapx website, paste or do a control V in the spot where you want the image to appear (it will typically be there) then click the now starred Img box a second time.

I practiced on your image arjay. Hope that is all right with you?

Some websites make it a little easier to do it by already adding the boxes as an option.

Just a quick update, before I disappear on my travels:-

The water level in the (river) road outside where I live has dropped about 2-3 inches overnight, though the road is still flooded. And we've had no rain yesterday or overnight, so the threat of further flooding should recede!! As long as China aren't opening any dams or anything!!

PS. Thanks for the advice on posting pics. I'll try it out when I return, or if I get bored whilst in the UK.
