boat trip on Mekong, Nong Khai to Chiang Khan ?

Hi, I would like to discover the Mekong river and its beautiful landscapes. I live in Udon and heard it is possbile to take a boat in Nong Khai, to make a small trip of around 1 hour, but also that it is possible to join other cities. I would like for exemple to go to Chiang Khan and stay in Loei province some days. Is it possible to go by boat from Nong Khai to Nong Khai ? or other beautiful cities on Mekong ?
