Nong Khai Asean Marathon December 18th
Nong Khai Asean Marathon December 18th
This is the second running of this event which attracted a few thousand runners last year.
Start and finish is at the V Viang Lifestyle Mall which is on Prajak Road in Nong Khai, opposite the LMG office.Registration is on the 2nd floor. The mall is pretty quiet but there is a Beyond Café in there which does delicious pastries and drinks.
Distances are Marathon (42.195km),Half Marathon (21.1km),Mini Marathon (10.5km) and Micro Marathon (5km).
Scenic courses which take in the Town Centre and the road that runs along the Mekong Promenade....Meechai Road,I think it is ?
Do one of these races and you will then be entitled to "pig out" over Xmas and the New Year !
Not that I think too many members will be participating but the entry fee in US Dollars is for runners from abroad. If you are a foreigner living in this area then a good tip is to register in person at the V Viang Lifestyle Mall.
You then pay just the ordinary price,as the Thais do.....eg.entry to the 10.5km currently costs 400 baht but if you pay the price for runners from abroad its now 35USD which equates to nearly 1200 baht..........quite a difference in price !
Even if you don't take part the races will be great to view as a spectator and its not far off Xmas,so should be a good atmosphere.

Good news for you statts......The Nong Khai Asean Marathon planned for December 18th has now been postponed.stattointhailand wrote: mmmm Thanks for the heads up Zid ..... Possibly,it will take place early next year instead ??
By the way,a group of Thai runners are planning to run from Udon Thani to Bangkok next week (15-19 November) in honour of their recent sad loss.
Farangs are welcome to participate......first day is Udon to Khon Kaen......I can put your name down if you like!
Last leg is Saraburi to Bangkok but they have to stop north of the city centre.Next day they will be driven to the Grand Palace.
I believe sponsors are welcome for things like drinking water, food etc........possibly dosh for new trainers when they have finished their run !
