Loi Krathong Nong Khai

Post by Jai » October 24, 2017, 1:21 pm

Hi thought I would book a hotel on / near the water & do Loi Krathong in NK for a change....may have left it a little late.. but where do most of the people gather, or where is a nice spot to do it from --the centre is to high from the water isn't it?
Any hotel recommendations---or any suggestions----it's mad I know but have lived in Udon for over 12 years now and still quite a newbie as far as NK is concerned.
Thanks guys
8-[

There are NOT A Lot of Waterfront Hotels in NK, But More Guest House Types than the former but quite a few of them to choose from just depends on you're budget but between 500 /850 Baht a night should see you O.K...

Hop Inn City Centre,Clean & Comfy Bed is 650 Baht, Mekong Guest House ( On the River ) 700 Baht,Royal Nakhara Just Outside City centre is Nice but 1,000 Baht......Mut Mee Guest House on the river @ 400 Baht IF You are a Back Packer & VERY Brave !!! LOL !!

All the activity takes place by the White Chedi at the Far end of the Waterfront...." All The Action is There "

Well,Loy Krathong certainly looks like it is still taking place in Udon at Nong Prajak.
I'd be surprised if its cancelled in Nong Khai.
This from the Mut Mee website and it hasn't been removed.

"Loy Kratong
3rd of November

The second most important festival in the Thai calendar, is the placing of Kratong... small floating shrines made of bamboo leaves ...on water as a blessing and to ask for luck for the coming year. As Nong Khai is on the Maekong river, this is extra special here. This year Loy Kratong will take place on Friday, 3rd of November "

They were selling tickets today to vendors to set up round the park on Friday, and allowed to start selling at 16:30 onwards, so definitely happening at Nong Prajak.
