Snake in MY Front Yard....

I Know someone posted about Snakes on here a while back ( But cannot find the forum ) Well I had one in my front yard last week,( Sorry No picture ) But I can describe it, It was Shiny Very Black in colour,about 2 metres long,climbed up tree to get at a Birds nest and promptly ate a baby bird came down and crawled away.....Anyone know what it was....BTW My TW is convinced it was a individual Cobra,( It DID'NT appear to have a hood )
