"Bangkok Dangerous" the movie
Has anyone else been to see this? I felt kind of let-down? As you may know this
was a re-make of an earlier film by I think? The Pang brothers from Hong-Kong?
This version starring Nicholas Cage as a hit-man who Yes, travels to BKK
on assignment, gets involved with some locals and basically, loses the plot.
Without giving too much away, I was expecting a gritty expose of the BKK scene
and maybe to find some footage where I recognized some places but no?
It was all like too much fantasy and I think the majority of the scenes appeared
to have been done on sets? Kind of like a Thai movie but with (1) Hollywood actor?
Anyone else with an impression about the film? After all the hype, It was
But then, I usually do need a little build-up with some kind of realistic story?

Re: "Bangkok Dangerous" the movie
Yeah, I haven't seen it but poor old Nick Cage does some dire movies these days.cali4995 wrote:Has anyone else been to see this? I felt kind of let-down?
BKK is crying out for someone to make a great film or write a good book about it (along the lines of The Quiet American in both media that I've mentioned). It might be dirty and seedy, like London, but it's got a lot going for it.

Re: "Bangkok Dangerous" the movie
Well now, I was reading the Friday Bangkok Post's Weekend section and they
were talking about a couple of new promising movies. One was called
"Soi Cowboy", supposedly about a Danish man and the Thai girl he gets
involved with, nothing new certainly but possibly a more interesting film.

Re: "Bangkok Dangerous" the movie
I saw the movie with my friend and her nephew on Saturday. It was okay. Most of the dialogue was in Thai but that did not cause a problem for anyone since there was very little talking.
The surprising part was afterwards when my friend told me that one of her brothers had been a hit man and was killed in a ten-hour shootout with the police and army a number of years ago in Udon Thani. Her second eldest brother now performs the same task in Bangkok. The family has not heard from him for years. The third eldest brother is a gentler soul and has a restaurant in Ban Chiang.

Unfortunately, I did not get hit on in the manner that I had hoped, but was told that if I did not believe the story about her brother that I could 'test'. This is an examination that I am not prepared to take.

Re: "Bangkok Dangerous" the movie
I saw the movie the other day, it was ok, but I think I would have enjoyed it much more if they at least had English subtitles.
Does anyone know the name or location the the temple that was in the movie. Not Waht Po, but the one that was underground. It looked like a Wat that would be worth a visit. Thanks

Re: "Bangkok Dangerous" the movie
can't say for sure, but I visited a cave wat north of Hua Hin about 7 years ago that resembled the one in the movie.. It would be a day trip from BKK..
The move was indeed OK and with the ending certainly left no place for a sequel..

The movie has seemed to ''bomb''in the American market!
Re: "Bangkok Dangerous" the movie
Yes, the reviews do seem to confirm that it's pretty horrible. I'll tell
you another one I just went to see that was disappointing was "You
Don't Want to Go See the Zohan" Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider
are funny at times in their careers but this slapstick was really dredging
the bottom, I almost got up and left it got so tedious towards the end.

Yes read about that place and also seen a few photos when a friend went there around 8 years ago, well worth a visit.FrazeeDK wrote:can't say for sure, but I visited a cave wat north of Hua Hin about 7 years ago that resembled the one in the movie.. It would be a day trip from BKK..

Re: "Bangkok Dangerous" the movie
those are in muang, phangna, just behind the main town, side of hill, not a very deep cave. Wat Tham Suw ank huha, i think, tho don't quote me. for some reason, had to seperate the last part of name.
Re: "Bangkok Dangerous" the movie
The movie was a let down for me. I thought that it didn't need Nicolas Cage, he brought nothing special to it. Perhaps that was why he was casted to help promote it. I'm more curious to see the orignal Thai version.
Does anyone who has seen the movie, know where he takes the girl out for the evening meal?
