As the Australian Stock Exchange opens at 7am Thai time that is the time I usually log onto the internet. I swap between the share trading page and several forums. The forums are used for light relief in between making money buying and selling and controlling my investments and income producing activities
ah yes, either staring at charts or level II, researching stocks, then the occasional humor/therapy break via forum. i know it well. if like usa market, 1st two hours, the last hour are the moving hours.

i also jump on, the internet, after Gem's school run, w/my bucket of coffee maybe on, maybe not on the balcony. yes, us internet addicted, chained to chair with eyes forced open and fingers superglued to keyboard.

then off course the is always the option of jumping of internet and on something softer................but this isn't the adult section.

sometimes opinionated people only see and read what they want. and really haven't got a clue without knowing the other person personally. just amazing how our sorry lives are discovered simply by posting amounts and times.

i think I

its understanable if you go into a girls bar prices are dearer, but come on only 50 baht more on 3 drinks in girls bar not bad,if you really want to be ripped off on drinks go to mr tongs,by thr way Glyn i hear you got a nice place to stay and yes your prices are good,i was in udon for 3 weeks ,and hope go there 3 times a year,i would have liked to stay at your guest house, but you were abit far out from the action.

want inside ac, nice music, not too loud, gracious host/hostess, Irish Clock hard to beat, nicely poured full pint of tiger, mere 80 baht. Don't forget your meat pie pig out, mere 150 baht, stuffed.

lg Tiger at 60 baht, i think, new place, Saengkaew Restaurant, out just a bit further than TJ's, just befor Englishmans resort. some tasty, also inexpensive food to go with that.

and new one, just visited by Mark, 60 for lg leo, Kruah Mah Kang Restaurant

Plenty of inexpensive beers around town. no need to pay large beer prices for small ones. whether sitting in watching the game with little bluesy or classics as backround music at Irish Clock, or out in fresh air watching Udon stroll by or refill your glass.

doesn't get much better.

oops, someone typing as i am, hmm, who could that be. probabaly so cheap charlie who only sips it at home and only buys it in Laos for half thai price. does remind me of someone. :D

UNLESS YOUR WITH A NICE WOMAN
don't leave home without her, think i'll change her name to American Express

your points are well taking, if single, i would get my freak on at irish clock or night market, then venture out to the livelier places, which are thai owned, not farang managed. tawan daeng is a favorite when single, or smaller and not as loud if actually wanting to converse before the witching hour.

this topic on "Udon's most expensive bar" is well out of date. June 19th 2008, the Orange Moon is under new ownership since September 2008. If you were to do a survey, or a pub crawl, you would find that the Orange Moon is no longer the most expensive bar in Udon, (or even the next most expensive)

actually, it never was, i suspect it was just a competitor comparing apples and oranges to make their business appear as inexpensive. but if you consider the cost to get there and back, as OP is a bit out of town, then there is no comparison, IMHO for a better value and you're not captive to one location.

enjoyed a few nights at orange moon, and didn't notice any billing out of the oridinary. and i am a CC.

Glyn wrote:Totally agree with u saint, we should start a thread that discourages people from buying these new bars, that way the only loosers will be the thai property owners. Once there's a load sat empty for a few years, they'll get the message "we don't need anymore bars", then we the customers can get on with making the most of the bars we have and turn them into nice watering holes (atmosphere & pricing).

Pop-Pop you are spot on, my prices have been displayed from the day I openned and I wouldn't do business any other way.

Believe it or not we the customer set the bench mark for pricing drinks, as long as we're prepared to pay it, they have every right to ask what they like. A bottle of spy costs 27bt, at 100bt a bottle that's approx 250% mark up, cheaky bas***ds!
Agree with a lot of your points raised Glyn about the high prices and no price displayed, but since venture out max 2 times a month have not much influence on the racketeers.

Can all bar owners, especially Day & Night, read this thread please 8) Is Nutty Park any cheaper? :-k

I simply can't believe that.

Are you saying the price of beer in the go-gos was 70B? Or were you drinking on the stoop of 7-11?

I hope you're right and I'm mistaken.

Fredy,
You are certainly not a blood hound, so I would take Hound out of your name.

The Beer Garden, Thai/German ownership is in soi 7 off Sukhumvit Road, about 250 yards from Nana Entertainment Plaza. NEP is in soi 4 and a Heine or San Mig will cost you 140b and a bottle of water will set you back 100b. I am talking about the Rainbow bars, Big Mango, Angel Witch, Playschool etc in the NEP.

You are right, Beer garden is one of the biggest bars in the area, Gullivers in soi 5 is not far behind it and there are no bar fines, they are freelance joints. I live not to far from the area and know of a few bars around Sukhumvit and Nana ghetto area.
