Polehawk - Paul noted in an earlier post the reasoning behind the one hook rule - it is not to do with a quick reduction of the fish population. It is, in fact ,to ensure the well-being of the fish! I have long been an advocate of using one hook only (and barbless too), having seen fish hauled in with one hook in their lip, one in each eye and the other three in and around the gill covers - not a pleasant sight and certainly no good for the fish! Sabai Sabai's main pond is now becoming a specialist hunters dream - there are over 20 species of fish, many of which are large and virtually irreplaceable. It seems common sense to take care of these 'living jewels' by having some basic rules.
Just want to catch some fish to take home for the barbeque - have a word with Paul - there are other ponds at Sabai Sabai where you can catch pla nin and pla duk to your hearts content - good size ones too!
I'm sure Paul and P have no problem with anyone using the 'cage contraption' as a groundbait holder, so long as only one hook is used.

Cueball and Pongpong, thanks for the feedback. I guess Miss Jaws has lasted these past 23 years by outsmarting and resisting the offerings and allures of a lot of anglers in the ponds and lakes of Thailand and long may the old gal's reign continue. =D>

I must have missed the earlier post about the reason for going to single hooks only but it does make sense, at least to me. Can recall reeling in some pla nin and jeramid out there that actually were hooked in more than one place besides the lip. Maybe will try using a piece of pineapple on a single hook for jeramid as suggested by Paul or dig up and bring along a few worms. Most of the fish we catch are given to the village relatives so, if they come along, we might try one of the smaller ponds for the pla nin and pla duk. Anyway, my idea of a great time fishing is to watch my rod tip or bobber while I sip a Leo and enjoy some good food straight from the kitchen. :D

Fisherman's creed: "A bad day of fishing beats a good day at work any day!"

That is the only way I have tried fishing before Thailand PH. To be honest I found the combination of multi-hooks & my eye sight more dangerous to me than the fish and returned to single hook & a float. What I like to call 'recreational' fishing as both hands are free for the Leo. :D
The pineapple does work well for jeramid & they really are worth eating PH - well for me, the in-laws were singularly unimpressed. :D

Bob, hands free is good but be nimble and quick! Almost lost a rod/reel out there to a large catfish. 8-[

Another good one is if you don't like to clean fish the staff will gladly do it for you for a small donation. :D

Perhaps something like this should be a requisite.

Just set the brake to allow the line to run, and enjoy that Leo (or 2) :drunk:

Yes, No Problem stocking San Migel Light, (Before I retired from drinking that was my favourite beer!! Yes, We can supply all the equipment you will require. Out last competition was completely Thai but they managed to land a 8.1 Kilo Pacu (Jeramid) and the runners up had a 7.5 kilo Siamese Carp. I wish I could learn their secrets!!!. We have cut down the competitions to 4 hours only on Theday and Thurdsday night but to be honest the majority of people we get now knw how to fish an handle the fish and if not are quickly shown. :D

Please remember that we also seve a lot of food and our local customers advise its very very good, So even if you dont feel like fishing come eat and watch, it can be enjoyable and very relaxing.

Our latest promotions with the help of Coke are buy 2 bottles (small or large and receive the 3rd on FREE) - No strings attached. =D>

Our Chef is now preparing a Western style menu to temp the people who just wont or cant eat Thai food. I am going to add to this list various sandwiches such as Tuna, bacon, egg etc.

Finally With the weather changes we have experienced the fish can be a bit sluggish to catch but try different baits you will eventually work out the dish of the day. I will upload the photos of the Last competion winners shortly to wet you pallets

I wouldn't bother with doing that. You will be buying fresh bread everyday for that monster in the main pond.
I've been too sabai sabai fishing park more than a 100 times, and the thai food as well as the san migs and leos are delicious.

Alfronso - Thanks

We will be open again on Friday as usual, The fish have now had a break and hopefully eaten alot of the bait still in the pond. The Staff have been busy making the place tidy and I hope our new fish have settled in and ready to take the hook. We will also be putting new jeramid (Pacu) in the pond shortly and will be starting work to put stones around the big pond on Friday for customer comfort.I would also advise that when the weathers hot fish tend to go down deep and you have to temp them with something different from bread. I find worms, meats and crabs are good to try.

The new fish have already been put into the water and more should be arriving shortly, as always our aim is to continually improve the Park and to ensure good varied fishing.

Was at Sabai Sabai yesterday (Friday) with my wee grandaughter who is 8 years of age, she caught 14 take home size pla-nin. I caught a few Geramid. Paul, you once told me to stay at home and send her to get the fish which in this heat is a good idea. We loved the food =D> .

Alfronzo,

Firstly glad to her you had another good day out, sorry to hear I was right about the grand-daughter but Im sure if you ask her nicely she could give you some good tips.

On a different note - Song Kran

We have decided to stay open this year in an effort to give customers an alternative to being constantly soaked, I hope this proves to be a sucessful idea and gives a good option for a great day out. Remember its only 10 days ago the Park was heavily restocked with Pla Jeramid and along with the thousands of other fish should provide good sport but if hot go down deeper where the oxygen is more plentiful as fish tend to go down in hot weather and you have to tenpt them a bit harder so try alternative baits such as bacon or cheese or even chocalate mixed bread all have worked in the past. I I know cheese is expensive and a great delight to eat so just use sparingly

On my own issues I should be out of Bunrungrad Hospital in about a month, So Thanks to all who have asked my wife on my wellbeing, I look forward to seeing our old as well as new customers and having a chat

tightlines

KInd Regards Paul

As Usual today we re-stocked the Main Pond and the Smaller Panine ponds with great take home size Panine from 1.5 to 3.o kilo fish. We hope you come and enjoy the great fishing to be had after the rain last night the ponds are full of water and the fish are again moving around and more importantly taking the hook again. Please feel free to talk to us about any promblems or new suggestions for improving Udons Premier Fishing Park with up to 22 different species of fish to be caught, and relax with a cold beer at very good prices and if hungry please try our food which we are told by other customers is very very good

We hope you have a great day out for all the family and please remember we also have free WI FI for that all important e-mail you may be waiting for!!!!

Kind Regards Paul and P
