If you want to "play" in the Nong Prajak Park area (and not get drenched with the questionable water coming out of the lake) then drop by our place. Bubba's Bar & Grill wont be officially open until the 1st week of May, but we have our liquor license and will be selling beer and offer a very limited food menu... hamburgers, hot dogs, and maybe some cold cut sandwiches. Coffee and donuts will be free each morning from 9AM (while they last) just to get acquainted. We're across the street from the big Phatchanee restaurant on the east side (middle shop house in a 5 unit complex). Also near the 7/11. Good classic rock American music playing, and we'll see if we can drown out some of the Thai jibberish stuff! Friday thru Sunday. Hope to see you!
Every day I wake up is a good day.

Sounds like where Pop Pop's internet used to be. May drop by for coffee sometime after my morning run to say hello.BigBubba wrote: We're across the street from the big Phatchanee restaurant on the east side (middle shop house in a 5 unit complex). Also near the 7/11.

I'm going to have to miss out on most of the fun this year as I'm scheduled for cataract surgery this Saturday, and not a good idea to have dirty water splashed in the eye just a few days after. But I have enjoyed Song Kran here, and I agree that if you go to a smaller town or village it's a lot of fun. We did trek up to Udon once for a day and didn't enjoy it at all, as the traffic jams were horrendous. Even when we lived in Udon we always came down here to my wife's home town and spent the time with her relatives and friends. We usually visit some family friends and have the pouring of water ceremony for the old folks, which then turns into a free for all water fight. Last year was the first year I was invited to sit with the old folks The next day we load up the truck and spend a few hours driving around town, and stay outside the house splashing passers by for the rest of the day. Then usually we go on an all day outing somewhere, last year it was Sam Phan Bok, with two pickups and a sedan, 18 people in all. Don't know what we will do this year, but I'm sure it will be some good times.

Happy (wet) 3-days Songkran for those who are in Udon!wikipedia wrote:Songkran has traditionally been celebrated as the New Year for many centuries, and is believed to have been adapted from an Indian festival. It is now observed nationwide, even in the far south. However, the most famous Songkran celebrations are still in the northern city of Chiang Mai, where it continues for six days and even longer. It has also become a party for foreigners and an additional reason for many to visit Thailand for immersion in another culture.

I think it's OSMIE vs OSMEI, not that I understand what it is they do, other than an annual Songkran party. I can't find OSMIE on my list of gov offices. Anyway looks like a good time had by all.

My wifes face was a picture of happiness this morning, before she went off to the shop.
Counting out the piles of banknotes she took yesterday selling caseloads of Thai Whisky, Beer, Soda, and snacks.
Pick-ups were stopping off and buying everything they could lay their hands on.
We also done well selling hot tea, coffee, and mama noodles.
The wife is off to Makro to stock up.
