Today ONLY- Special at Bangkok Hospital

I'm at Bangkok Hospital in Udon (formerly Panyavey) and just learned today only they have a special till 8 pm. A complete check-up for 990 baht! If you don't want the checkup today- and you should not get it today as it involves fasting- if you come in and pay the 990 baht, you can have the check-up another day. It's their Grand Opening, so unlike other times when they give you the special the whole month of an individual's Birthday, this deal is TODAY ONLY, Wednesday.

I spoke with the hospital clerk since I last wrote. She says the rest of December, Bangkok Hospital will be offering their regular checkups for half price- 1490 baht. Not as good a deal as the 990 price today, but a lot better than their regular price of 2,865 baht. Boy, medicine's expensive! I remember just a few years ago, I got a checkup at Panyavey during a individual's Birthday special for 500 baht! Still, I guess it's just a fraction of what it would be in America.

being a cynical old sod, whats the beting that due to the check up other services or tests will be needed to clarify the results.

I always very wary when any medical establishment offers cheap anything, me I don't trust them here or in the Uk . Nowt fro free in this world or even cheap espeically medical shenanigans.

I only found out about the special because I bought the Tuesday Bangkok Post, and there was an insert for Bangkok Hospital saying the special was offered only Wednesday. For a hospital that's opened 29 branches around Thailand, seems to me like not the best marketing. Don't blame me, I don't work there. I'm just another falang trying to help you guys...

A swift change of ownership , signage and hey presto Udon now has its second hotel mascaraiding as a hospital to add to the AEK ...... expect a steep increases in prices ,,, having been on the receiving end at both BKK Pattaya over 1 mil in 2007 and a couple of experiences at AEK in the 5 years since i first stared visiting Udon i personally choose to give em both a wide birth ..... no amount of special deals and offers can make up for the general money machine attitude the place reeks of .

Pay up front for a brain scan ,,,, WTF ,,, exactly wot happened a few days ago after a friend was admitted ,, with cash waiting to clear insurance ,, needed a scan quick ,, gotta pay before we do ,,, COME ON wots happened to the system .

makes my blood boil .

Do you mean the system of one set of rules for Thais and another for farangs? Looks like it hasn't change one bit. It's the Military Hospital for me...the lesser of the evils! Thanks for reminding us that we should stay clear of these rip-off hospitals.

I meant theres suppose to be a worldwide code of ethics in the medical/hospital services dept but here MONEY IS ALL THAT MATTERS ,,,, i was badly burned in 2007 ,, i was hung over a bath of ice in the BKK Patts hossy denied treatment until my insurance card n details were verified ,,, bastards , doctors codes of conduct MAKE ME LAFF ,, agony for the time i was in limbo ,,, ICU 11 days , 10 operations then as soon as the insurance maxxed out they wanted me out into a government hospital where i stayed for 10 weeks at a fraction of the cost of the 11 day BKK Patts experience

sufice to say why im so anti these rip off places .
