Sabai Sabai Fishing Park - Udon Thani

Post by footymaster » September 8, 2011, 10:34 pm

We went fishing there last Sunday at sabai-sabai, had a great day, caught lots of fish and some big ones too, also have a meal there the food was excellent great taste and great value. We will be going back this weekend and recommend it to anybody who wants a good day out, fishing, eating good food and having a good drink also there's a good play area if you take your kids.

Sabai Sabai Fishing Park Closed for 1-2 Weeks

Post by pongpong » September 19, 2011, 7:02 pm

Sorry to advise everyone but due to flooding in the area we have had no choice but to close the Park for 1-2 weeks to allow time for the water to drain and for the cleaning up process to take place. This unfortunate event was due to the Government opening up the dam a few kilometers from the Park and flooding the whole area. We hope to be back up and running as quickly as we can

Regards Paul

Sabai Sabai Fishing Park - Udon Thani

Post by wayne747 » October 3, 2011, 1:07 pm

Hi Paul
I would like to visit sometime during decemner when I am back in Udon.
When are the normal opening hours, please ? I can see there was some controversy about opening hours a few posts back, but I dont mean to make trouble out of that, just politely ask abt opening hours ?
I looked at your nice website http://sabaifishingparkcom.fatcow.com/ but couldn't see anything about it.

I am new to thai fresh water fishing. I would like to catch snakehead fish. Is there any particular bait one should try ? Shrimps perhaps ?
Is it allowed to use lures in your fish farm, e.g. pike wobblers ? Just asking :D

Last, I look forward to a pleasant day at your facility.

Wayne

we usually open at 10 in the morning and close at 8, sometimes later, We dont allow lures as they cause to much damage to the fish. Snakeheads are usually caught fishing the margins and frogs are best for this purpose. Some people use rubber ones other live ones both work well.

Look forward to meeting you in December as I should be home then too

Regardas Paul.

Hi All

JUst a quick post to let you know many new fish were added yesterday and we have now managed to reduce prices for fish being taken home. Due to the resent floods we now allow fishing in all ponds which are all now full of fish.

To all my Customers

Please be advised I am not and have not been envolved in the running of the Fishing Park for quite a while now and have unfortunately at this time I cannot comment further. Its a sad ending to what started out of as great adventure but ultimately has gained me my Masters Degree in the WBU

I hope someone can buy this without any problems and get it back up to scratch, I enjoy fishing there except when your ex kicks us out because she takes a liking to a young customer, once a short time girl, always a short time girl. I hope you can pick up the pieces and move oon, it was a great idea and a great place.

Sabai Sabai Fishing Park - Udon Thani

Post by 430xc » March 7, 2012, 9:15 am

I will be in Udon for about 2 weeks, starting 1 April. I am interested in doing some fishing. My experience with fishing in Thailand is absolutely zero. I have done some fishing in western Washington State for freshwater and saltwater fish but I am not an expert. I am just looking for something to do while TGF is at work.

Suggestions? Is there much shade at Sabai Sabai and a place to get into some air conditioning? Being out in the hot sun all day is not appealing. Do I need to rent a car to get to Sabai Sabai or can I motorbike it from Udon?

Thanks
430xc

there are huts which offer some shade. no air conditioning as such. About 3 km out past ringroad. Take some bread with you (the doughy sandwich bread), best all round bait if you are uncertain what to use.

I went there in December.
Reading Paul's comments I won't go there again.
My best feelings for you mate, I know how it is.

Another time I went to Saman Farm fish, and had a great time. That is within easy motorbike distance of Udon. It is a bit tricky to find.

Finding Saman farm not to hard. From Old Tesco's on the ringroad, head west. Go past the turn for Nong prajack; next traffic lights turn right. You go past a factory yard and a cement silo or something; about 2 kilometres down the road, on the left hand side, is a rectangular blue sign in Thai. Underneath it is a smaller white sign in English. Turn into the soi immediately after the signs. About 200 metres down on the left is a big sign in English ; turn here and about 50 metres to entrance.

Saman farm is mainly catfish and heavy tackle needed; average fish is about 5 kilos and 10 kilo not rare. Unfortunately, there is nowhere quite like sabai sabai for a mixed fishery; how long it will remain so is anyone's guess.
