No wonder i could not punch in the co-ords for phu failom from a google earthreading.

ting_tong, This is just a wag for the co-ordinates for phu failom.

lat 17.161014
lon 102.6982180 could not enter the 6, only went 1 to 5

thanks for your efforts!

ting_tong,
17.161014 deg = 17 deg 9.66084 = 17 deg 9 min 40 sec

102.6982180 deg = 102 deg 41.89308 min = 102 deg 41 min 54 sec

Hope this helps;o)

So if you set your GPS unit to DEGMIN, the lat/long locations below should be accurate
MY APOLOGIES I'm starting to confuse myself.

The latitude/longitude locations listed areALREADY in DEGREES MINUTES SECOND

Sorry if confused anyone. I should of not put the decimal point in there, those last four numbers are 2 sets of numbers 102' 45.81 = 102' 45 81 g/m/s.

LA, just to confuse you more, 102' 45 81 g/m/s. is not right. We can have only 0-60 seconds, so i.e. of 81 cannot be correct. If it is 45 min and 81 sec, it should read 46 min and 21 seconds.

I think, and I could be wrong, it was really 45.81 minutes in your gps and thus would translate to 45 min and 48.6 sec (.81 min X 60 sec/minute).

DAMN, I guess I need to put the GPS back in the car and keep track as I make my rounds. I really hate being wrong, I'll straighten this out yet, give me couple weeks.

Do you mean: 102' 45.81 = 102ฐ 45' 81" ?

I was about to go searching for this! I think it should be put somewhere that will make it easy for people to find and add to. For a somebody who gets lost easily (like me), this is a wonderful collection of data.

yea, but as pointed out, deg/min/sec, isn't suppose to exceed 60 in the min/sec part, so i goofed somewhere. i hope i didn't have it set on 2 different settings for some, as i notice a few are over 60, yikes.

Or did you have it set to decimal degrees?

laphanphon

Post by laphanphon » January 25, 2007, 12:18 pm

the ones posted on here now are degmin (decimal degrees), and so far, all the ones i've double checked are accurate.

i am presently redoing them and will post both, degmin and add the deg min sec coordinates for those also.

i've double checked my gps unit and setting, and confirmed they are correct and calibrated. used a map specifically designed w/gps for thailand.

should be posting verified, and new coordinates very soon.

102' 45.81
"the ones posted on here now are degmin (decimal degrees)"
Correctly The above would be degrees minutes and decimal minutes, multiply .81 by 60 to get seconds. The ones I posted are degrees and decimal degrees, which I happen to prefer for its simplicity. As I stated before once one does the math the point of reference will be the same no matter how we chose to express it;o)

If you at at the coordinates, you should see what you are looking for, hopefully :D barring any typos, these should be very accurate. If not, be the first to tell me, and large beer on me, at the night market :D

That looks a lot different than when i typed int, all that spacing for nothing, damn.

If you would like it a little more reader friendly or want to print it off, it looks and reads much better as a picture.

LA, Thanks for posting all the coordinates, I tried doing the math to convert to degrees and got all F'd up. Sooo I used your deg min sec and entered as points in google earth and wala changed the preference back to deg and google did the math. Udon Thani is just chock full of pins now;o) but your info looks good.

if you calculate to see if one matches the other, they may be off a bit, as possible taken at different spots. example with silver reef, 1st point was taken at the bar inside, other on outside at curb. some on one side of the street, at the driveway, door or actually inside, but all close enough to see what you are looking for.

next week i'll finish up and give the rest of the sponsors their do, i think 17 more to post, then done.

any request are welcome, but if you can see it on the map, or a very large place like tesco, big c, no need to coordinates. if you can't find these, you shouldn't be allowed out by yourself.

i will try to get to NK Immigrations, and phu folium, before end of next month.

yes, that's why i posted it. have toyota vios, dealer wanted 18,000 baht for mediocre insurance, maybe 500,000 baht total claim, 100,000per person, and my car value, 300,000. thaisri valued my car 10 % more, 330k, and gave me 10 million max coverage, which is my understanding what some local want in the event someone commits suicide on my car, by their action, but we know who's fault it will be if an individual isn't a witness for me. the price was the same, 18 k, plus 750 baht for mandatory 3rd party, ttl 18,818, i think.

at thaisri, their information sheet only had a ttl of 5 mill coverage, which i new was wrong, because my neighbor has same coverage. when policy arrived, it stated 10 mill. the insurance is underwritten by a large europeon company that escapes my memory right now. info sheet in english.

they are located about 2 kms south of ring/KK rd intersection on other side of road. after 2 kms, just past overpass for pedestrians, make a u-turn, and up the road just a bit. large sign on top of building on left, hard to miss.
