Ice skating at Central Plaza

Post by Udonnoodles » September 29, 2014, 12:00 pm

On the top floor in Central Plaza, there is a small ice rink where you can rent ice skates and have a pleasure skate. The ice surface is not great and a lot of grooves. I rented skates and they were incredibly dull. I exchanged them for another pair and they were slightly better. Tip:if you are going to rent skates, bring a pocket skate sharpener otherwise, you'll be on your butt a lot. I wish I had my skates from back home in Canada.

It is a nice way to cool off and do something different.

I doubt there will be too many places that have these available in Udon though :-k

Just use one of those penguin helpers till you learn with the new skates noodles. :D

But it is amazing how quick the kids who have never been on ice before can learn to balance and skate and can get rid of the penguin support in no time.
Could be a safety issue using sharpened blades with all those people when it's busy.

I would be more concerned about the weight of the ice being on the TOP floor rather than the ground floor as seen in other Malls

It's nothing new to have the rink on a high floor Ding, not heard of any trouble before.

Shouldn`t be any different than all those swimmingpools on high floors in hotels & condos. Nothing to be concerned about.

We're not talking tundra depth here, I think you will find the ice ain't that thick, just enough to freeze a thin layer of water, depending on your definition of thin. Far to difficult to keep a thick ice sheet frozen. Probably more weight in the freezer tubes under the ice.
