If you were going out and wanted to look good in Udon Thani. You wear a Suit and Tie and your woman wanted to wear a Beautiful Dress. Where would you go?

A week has passed and there's still no place to go in Oodorn while dressed to the nines. Although there's a discernible cosmopolitan flare compared to eight, twelve or twenty years ago, there's still no equivalent of Bangkok's Silom enclave, the Mezzaluna at Lebua Hotel or Le Normandie. There was a restaurant that opened a few years back in UD Town that had a reputation for 'see and be seen' coupled with good food, decent wine and great service but that appeared to be unsustainable. I don't think there's a jazz or lounge club and if any place was de rigeur for gadding about, Covid spoiled that party as well.

I think Pharos on the west ring road still has a certain caché with a more relaxed dress code and maybe there's some other hidden gems inside the city. Isn't there a 'famous' place somewhere off Phosi just west of the roundabout that's kind of down a side street? Maeya or something?

Either way, if one looks good and feels good, there's nothing to stop one from dressing for the occasion and not so much for just the appearance. The locals will appreciate some rare western-style finery among them just don't let them see you arrived by 'skylab'.

Not particularly a "dress up" destination but the missus likes to go to Laem Chareon Seafood (4th floor Central Plaza) every so often. She loves seafood and this place has a nice selection of some of the harder to find menu items.

My knowledge is somewhat dated, hence did not name any but I used to use Ban Chiang, Prajakatra, heard the President was good as was one or two of the restaurants in the now Centara, but recent knowledge just out of date SORRY
To be honest you want to dress up find a restaurant you like , book a table for a special date inform the owner why and dress for the occasion, it is for the lady you dress for , not to get appreciative oohs and aahs, when you walk in surely. Maybe your ego needs a boost......lol

Yesterday, after my Pfizer jab, I had lunch at Dose.......one of my favorite eating spots to this day. I've seen suit/ties in there.....and most all the women are dressed up....certainly beyond what you'd see at the noodle soup places.
I wouldn't call the place classy, but the food/service/desserts/coffee are very good. I take that back....for Udon, Dose is classy....but not to the point of a dress code.
I had the aussie beef salad.....beef as good as any you'll get in Udon (IMO). Orange/Rhubarb to wash it down.

Yes, Dose is very nice. The wife also likes Dose Factory for a nice evening meal.

If I am expected to dress up to go somewhere, I just don't go. I stay home. My Thai wife doesn't even own a dress, nor does she use any makeup, not even lipstick. That suits me fine.

Recently wore a suit jacket (no tie) at Chef's Table during a cool evening birthday celebration. Felt appropriate especially as the beautiful food arrived.

I wont be wearing one to Brickhouse or Country Grill however, my Udon uniform of Bermuda shorts suffice here.
