90 days report to immigration in Udon

Post by parrot » June 28, 2013, 7:31 pm

Be careful of that 'stamp stamp..staple...bye now.

The same thing happened to me back in the days of Nina at AEK immigration (i.e., went to the US, but when I returned I resumed my original 90 day report). The official issued me a new 90 day check, but when I back after another 90 days, Nina blew a fuse and said I had failed to report.
"Failed to report?" I asked.
"You failed to report 90 days after returning to Thailand," she said.
I argued that the immigration official issued a new 90 days report (probably a week or two after we returned.) Nina said that was not her problem......my problem was a failure to get a 90 day check on schedule.

Maybe officials interpret things differently now.

90 days report to immigration in Udon

This looks to be an unannounced change .yesterday when doing my 90 days the officer screwed my completed TM47 form up and gave it back to me . Instead of putting the bottom bit in my passport she stapled this notice in .

Special note should be made of the penalty for being late . Yes 5,000bht per day .When I queried this she confirmed it but added you can do up to 7 days before .

Looks like another nice new rubber stamp.

I wonder how many different stamps each officer has in his/her desk :-k

That's got to be a niche market for someone hasn't it ........ buy up all the out of date stationary (rubber stamps & pads/staples/tie up folders/hole punches etc) that are not used any more in States/UK? etc and ship them over here for resale

Either incompetence or UD immigration is operating under their own rules...

Obviously a new rule Rito. Your link is over 9 years old now so its more likely that is out of date, but of course it could be specific to Udon . It has been known. :-"

Interesting. That's 91 days not counting the day on which the stamp was issued. Perhaps they only actually do the day before three calendar months?

Something doesn't add up.
How can a 4-day-late "90-day report" penalty (20,000B) be the same as an yearlong or decade long overstay penalty (20,000B)?

The max penalty for overstay is 20,000B -- the same penalty as showing up 4 days late for your "reporting."

Sounds completely illogical. :? Which means it's probably correct.

As Tex points out its not logical that the fine is more than that than for overstaying so as statts says 'What about all the other penalties'? :-"

Funny isn't it really, we have all these "high powered" meetings and photoshoots with the "powers that be" saying that they want to help make our lives better and easier, and then they change basic things like immigration requirements without a word of notice.
Bearing in mind they have just about everyones e-mail address and house address (with map) on file, wouldn't it be nice if they could send out a notice to all concerned BEFORE they change things. Lets face it, the likes of Tesco send out coupons to millions every month, so the postal charges couldn't be so prohibitive. Failing that what's wrong with the immigration bosses alerting the "Farang Forums" editors (Udonmap/Hua Hin/Thai Visa etc) and asking them to alert everyone (won't be a catch all but will certainly make sure that MOST people know what's changed)

You raise some excellent points regarding immigration's inability to broadcast changes, deletions, additions... but there is a reason these rules remain vague, constantly shifting, and vary between provincial offices. I'll give you one guess.

I've been to Immigration today for 90-dayer and received the usual notice of when to come back slip in my passport. Not one word about fines on that one!

You have to report every 90 days just like before. Nothing changed. I missed my 90 day check several years back.....when Nina was still in the office.....she chewed me out, threatened me with a 2000 baht fine, then told me to forget it. No fine.
IMO, the penalty has changed, but the rules are the same......report every 90 days.

Do you mean the bottom half of the TM47? Because mine was given back to me to throw away .
The only change apart from the penalty fine and paperwork is that no leeway is allowed on late reports apparently .

The Notice is wrong.

Officially, the fine for non/late reporting is TBH5000 + 200 for every day - and has been since 2009.
Section 76 :
Any alien, alien, who fails to comply with the provisions of Section 37(2),(3),(4)or(5) shall be
punished with a fine not exceeding 5,000 Baht and with and additional fine not exceeding 200 Baht for
each day which passes until the law is complied with.
In practice, the TBH2000 fine is applied pretty much everywhere.

Yes, the bottom half as always.
