Time for me to get a new US passport. I see they offer a "passport card" for an additional $30.00. While the purpose of this seems to be only for land/sea travel to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, I was thinking this might be good back-up ID if my passport was lost.
Any of you Americans have one? Are there any other uses for it?

Re: US Passport Card
I have one, had it for 4 years, never used it. Although, I may start using it as an ID for domestic flights because on my last 2 trips, the airlines are now asking for passport as the only form of ID. Prior, I used to use and they accepted, my Thai driver's license. No problem using Thai License for hotel check-in but I suspect that will be changing soon. I am considering applying for the Alien ID card next time I go to Phen Amphur. This way I will be loaded up with ID until they decide to implement fingerprint or iris scanners.

I am not aware of a thumbs print requirement for Alien ID Card. I have read reports of those who received the card and no mention of thumb prints required.timmy wrote:you do have to have your " thumbs " fingerprinted for your Alien ID card ...
