Extension Retirement O-A - Insurance
For anyone who does a Retirement Extension based on an O-A visa:
- is health insurance still required by Immo
- and if so, which insurance company/policy do you use, and cost?
Cheers

Re: Extension Retirement O-A - Insurance
It's never been required for my O class visa when applying for the retirement extension. I thought you rid yourself of your original O-A and went the O visa route when this insurance crap first raised it's ugly head???

Not quite, Dero.
I changed over to a marriage based extension. And given that O visas are no longer issued in Oz, I am sort of stuck on my current O-A based marriage extensions.

I think if I was you I'd just front up with all my paperwork (bank letter & statement, photo of the bed and toothbrush, proof of marriage etc.) and leave them to comment on insurance.

Pretty sure it's still a requirement but I switched to an O so, can't confirm from personal experience
When I looked into it a couple of years back, Immigration gave me a list of acceptable Insurers so, might be worth checking with them.
Re cost, a friend suggested a way of getting the extension with minimal cost is to insure with a high excess of 100,000 plus.

1) yes for a Retirement Extension based on an O-A visa health insurance is required
2) immigration has a list of Thai insurance companies that sell the required insurance
3) the cost of insurance is tremendously variable depending on your requirements, age, current medical health.
It is possible to by insurance that meets the immigration requirements that is cheap because the value to a claimant is tiny.
For extensions for other reasons based on an O-A visa there are no current insurance requirements.

Vientiane embassy is still issuing Non-O visas, so you have that option, though changing, if you are currently married and envisage staying that way, is at the moment of no benefit.jackspratt wrote: ↑April 18, 2023, 2:00 pmI changed over to a marriage based extension. Thanks for the heads-up re Vientiane, woody.
You are probably right re the retired vs married - other than the fact of all the added nonsense attached to the married extension.

Yipee, one year extension of visa processed today, took 32 minutes as the officer in Udon had a PhD in rubber stamping.

Even better, you have managed to get something that nobody else has ever got!

Nah, while your post shows you do not possess one, plenty of others here have a sense of humour too.sometimewoodworker wrote: ↑April 21, 2023, 1:15 pmEven better, you have managed to get something that nobody else has ever got!
