Officially, the fine for non/late reporting is TBH5000 + 200 for every day - and has been since 2009.
Section 76 :
Any alien, alien, who fails to comply with the provisions of Section 37(2),(3),(4)or(5) shall be
punished with a fine not exceeding 5,000 Baht and with and additional fine not exceeding 200 Baht for
each day which passes until the law is complied with.
In practice, the TBH2000 fine is applied pretty much everywhere.
If we fall foul can we quote you Jack.?

Okay, I'll change that to either incompetence (maybe just a typo) or fraud, because something is definitely not on the up & up. The fine should be "not exceeding 5000bt and 200bt a day.

I did an internet search for the immigration act stamped in the notice that you received (Immigration Act B.E. 2552) and unable to find any reference to it. It also sites section 76.

What does exist is Immigration Act B.E. 2522 and the current Immigration Police order 777/2551 makes reference to it. Section 76 refers to the penalty for failing to comply with 90 notification and section 37 is in reference to 90 day.
Section 76 :
Any alien, alien, who fails to comply with the provisions of Section 37(2),(3),(4)or(5) shall be punished with a fine not exceeding 5,000 Baht and with and additional fine not exceeding 200 Baht for each day which passes until the law is complied with.

You find that section 77 pertains to...
The house – master , the owner or the possess or of the residence , or the hotel manager
and the fine is 2000bt and not exceeding 10,000bt.

Hope not to get in that position Jack but how can you quote a law when the final paragraph reads. Or whatever is decided at the officers decision .That surely negates anything previously written !
I tend to agree with you and Rito but I would point out I did ask the officer for clarification. The other anomaly is the giving me back to TM form, apparently not needed and yet Flo went the next day and had to use it .Sounds like a real mess if you ask me .Glad I photo copied it or I would be thinking I had dreamed it .

Only two things to always keep in mind:

1. The immigration officer can use their discretion.

2. Go early and make the rule controversies as meaningless as possible.

My wife and I did our 90 day checks today.....TM 47, same as always. One couple in front of us, waiting 3-4 minutes, then up to the 90day desk where a female intern took our paperwork. Oops, deep throat voice, but he did have nice long hair and more female facial features than male. He spoke English quite well. Anyway, another 5 minutes of smiles and we were gone. t.i.t.

Just completed my 90 day Report by post. This is a screen capture of the EMS tracking facility, unfortunately they did not post the actual signature as in the past BUT there is a Thai written acknowledgement.

The 90-Day Reporting Officer was there when I went to renew my visa in the first week of July. He and his desk are all the way to the right in front of the TV. He was his usual, happy and jovial self.

The 90 Day Reporting desk has now been moved back to the left side of the room in front of the door. Now with a four station electronic number display with 90 day being station no 1. I went Thursday. In and out in less than 30 minutes with a young I/O behind the desk who also verified 90 day reports can be done 14 days prior and up to 7 days after the actual due date.

Thanks for that update!

Maybe someone else wanted to see more television.

for my very first visit to Immigration, and all the negative stories I have heard over the years, I can only say that I was surprised to find their service to be tops, right from the moment I pushed the door open..I found the manly woman with the deep manly American voice, wink wink, to be of great assistance, helpful, full of knowledge, and with a good sense of humor..

Went in to do my 90 day report. Thumbs up on the new number display system! =D>
Work much better than the queue jumping I've been victim to before. The 90 day desk seemed to take a few minutes longer as he had to do something on the computer. I don't recall seeing computers at the officers desks before. Seems their becoming much more organized and efficient now.

Not due in there until September so maybe time for a good sense of humour, crushed nuts for George/Gladys to be able to speak in a higher pitched voice. \:D/ 8)

And Jello, good to hear about the changes, those queue jumpers were the pits [-X :D

I also went there today. He needed my address and phonenumber to put it in his computer. My phonenumber has been the same all the time, but my address has changed since getting my 1 year extension, but it is the same as I wrote on TM47 three months ago.
Was in and out in less than 15 minutes... :D

I was there yesterday morning and watched the officer type in the number on my departure card. Then, up popped my visa status.

Don't think for a minute that immigration is stupid. We are all on their computers and they can track us any time they want too. To think otherwise is ignorant.
