Criminal Record Statement for Visa

Post by Aircraftdoc » December 11, 2007, 6:53 am

I have a question regarding my initial Retirement Visa. Where did you go to get the clean criminal record statement? Local law enforcement?

Just tell 'em you need a "clearence letter". Normaly cost around 5 bucks.

I was wondering about that. Seems kinda foolish since it comes from another country and the form my agency uses looks like it came from a grade school author and printed on an old mimigraph machine. ( Kinda funny, mine says that I have no criminal background and the next form shows that I have retired from the same agency  )

If you are applying for the retirement visa there in CA, it's most likely the local law enforcement agency. Check with the Thai Consulate there as to where they want the check to be coming from.

Ray,

You will probably never need to provide a printout of your criminal statement here. It is only requested by the Thai embassy when applying for the Non-Immigrant O-A (retirement visa) in your home country.

When applying for the Non-Immigrant O visa, no criminal statement is required. With the Non-Im O, once you have been in Thailand for 90 days, you can apply for the one year retirement extension at Thai Immigration where no criminal statement is required.

With the Non-Im O-A, you are allowed to live in Thailand for one year (as opposed to 90 days) before applying for a one year extension.

Ya at the time I applied I needed a Thai bank account something I couldnlt get in the states at the time simply beacuase I couldn't find a branch to sit up an acccount, Hind sight being 20/20 I know there are branches of differnt banks in the states now. But I didn't then and the Thai emabassy in LA woudln't give me the information.

So I went to Lao and applied in that manner, had the lettter still do as a matter of act, but ono one wanted it. :lol It was really funny th Sheriff's department that I retired from efused to issue the lettre so I went to small department, they ran a CII check for me and the chief issued the letter.

I have no idea if you can still do what I did or not but it was easy and got to explore Vientene.

The other thing I found interesting was Lao issued me a non immigrant B, Nong Khai changed it to a O type.

Thanks everyone for the info. I'll contact the LA Embassy and inquire. I still have a few years before it happens, BUT I'M COUNTING EACH DAY. Cheers and Merry Christmas and Happy New Years everyone.

LA Thai Consulate

Post by threelegcowboy » December 13, 2007, 5:30 pm

LA is the worst of anywhere. Try the Dallas office as it does not matter what state your from. Can be done by mail etc. You will be surprised by how few hoops to jump through.

Enjoy :D

Amazing!
Fantastic service. I have been trying to contact the LA Consulate for several days now with negative results.
I emailed the Dallas COnsulate this morning and within 5 minutes they responded.
Difference between the two;
LA- 4 copies of everything
Dallas- 2
LA- do not respond to calls/emails
Dallas- right away and very pleasant

Reason? Is there a large Thai community in Dallas?
Not like Thai Town in LA?

My anxeity is dwindling now.

I cannot thank you enough. [-o<

The instructions that I got from Houston on my application about how many forms to submit..I quote " 3 sets in original "
I emailed her back and she sent the instructions again without any explanition.

What in the heck does "3 sets in original" mean????? :?
2 copies and the original?

Must be Texan

They should email a short form and instructions. No health, criminal, financual forms to be filled out. Two pics and money order. Valid passport not about to expire. HOW MUCH EASIER DO YOU WANT IT?

"Reason? Is there a large Thai community in Dallas?
Not like Thai Town in LA? "
Not very many Thais only a couple of temples in all of DFW.
Get it while you can. It can only get screwed up
LLL :?

Well, I beg to differ.
Per the instructions it is the SAME as LA, and right now I cannot figure out how many copies or originals they need. :?
Required:
Passport
Visa Application w/ photos
Personel data form
Income certificate
Criminal History
and
Medical Form

That was the instructions from them as of 0930hrs MST 13 Dec 07 !
TODAY.
:?
Now..
What in the world does "3 sets in original" mean????

POC in Houston ( where the Dallas office refered me to ) is
Julie Richardson
or
Michele Aguilera

Apparently Oregon is good as well, a friend is working through them at the moment and they really try to fidn the way instead of shutting the door. I worked through the LA office even in those days couldn'tt get any cooperation to speak of thats why I came on a tourist visa. Then converted it.

Really seems like the smart thing to do, if just get it there in the first place.

That was over five years ago and information that is so easily found here today just wasn't around
