Somphol Law Office

Post by lee » September 11, 2010, 4:16 pm

Somphol & Associates Law Firm is a general practice, multi-service law firm located in Udon Thani, Thailand. Their office is staffed with five licensed Thai attorneys, one licensed foreign attorney, and support staff. They are multi-lingual and committed to assist foreigners and Thais alike in successfully resolving their legal issues.

Areas of Practice: They are a general practice law firm which means that they are specialists in all areas of Thai and international law.
Real estate transactions
Domestic relations law
Immigration/Visas
Criminal law
Company registration
Commercial law
Intellectual property law

Costs: As professional attorneys, they review their clients' cases individually. As such, it can be difficult to provide a fixed, one-size-fits-all price list for everybody. Here is an example of costs for typical cases:

Initial consultation: 1,000 Baht/hour
Agreement/Contract (Thai and English): 6,000 - 10,000 Baht
Pre-nuptial Agreement (Thai and English): 12,000 Baht
Contested Divorce: 25,000 Baht
Company Registration: (Please inquire)
Work Permit: (Please inquire)
Thai Long Stay Visa: (Please inquire)
US Visas: (Please inquire)

Why do they charge for consultations? They charge for consultations because it ensures that you will receive honest and accurate legal advice. Often times, a legal firm will offer an initial consultation hoping to sell you a service. They prefer to have you pay a small fee for receiving their honest and unbiased opinion.

From their website

We are conveniently located on the corner of the Ring Road and Nong Khai Road near Tesco Lotus

This map does not accurately represent the location. They are located on the southwest corner of the intersection of the ring road and the highway to Nong Khai. Going north to Nong Khai turn left at the intersection towards Tesco Lotus and they are immediately on the left. There is a large red sign in Thai over their office. I was just there today, and to answer a previous posters question: They do not all speak fluent English, but there is an American associate named Roger working there who is making up a usafrucht contract for me. Their fees are as stated on their website.

I believe the point is that Mr Roger is not or may not be licenced to do any legal work in Thailand if anywhere else in the world for that mater? his role is purely to liaise from Thai English, so you would have to have 100% trust in him otherwise best go somewhere where you can communicate face to face with the licensed Lawyer that will be representing your good self.

I recommend you contact Siam Legal, international, Times Square, Bangkok, you can speak on the phone or contact as i did by email all English speaking and international they have a reputation to keep in Thailand the USA, UK, Singapore, Philippines, etc, they may not be cheapest around but they are backed by Thai and International law if i had chosen them at first my life would not be in ruins as it is now.

Just A Thought.

Would you trust a Policeman (anywhere in the world) who is overweight and Carry's a wide tooth lined sick smile as you pay him- them x amount for a speeding fine?
