According to the latest CAT newsletter, CAT phone card rates to the US, Canada, China, Singapore, and HongKong are only 1 baht per minute! That's half of what the old cheap rates were. And compared to 12 years ago when the rates were 55 baht per minute..............it's progress!
Rates to 13 other countries are also reduced up to 70%.....including Australia, Germany, Finland, Indonesia, Saudi, Pakistan, Burma. The newsletter says the rates are effective until 28 Feb.....but from my experience, once they reduce rates, the reduced rates stay in effect until they're reduced even further.
This was my Thai homework for the evening.........please don't hold me responsible for errors.

Re: Reduced international calling card rates
How do I hook up with one of these CAT phone cards to use for calling the USA?
Can they be used from my home phone here in Udon Thani or from a cell phone?
From what I understand any calls I make from my home phone are charged by minute to me and also calls made from my cell phone here are charged to my minutes. Do the calling cards here like in the US where you use a toll free line to make the calls?
Thanks,
Ed Newhall

Re: Reduced international calling card rates
there are 'dee' calling card available through out udon, FBI has/had them, sold me mine. 1 baht per min to usa. you call there computer, let it ring, hang up, it calls you back, then dial number, no time comes off you cell phone for the international call. best part............never expires. cost 99 baht and can top off at will. there is some kind of promotion, when you top up, then after a couple times, it's actually better to buy another card, and use promo again couple times, and repeat.
