iPhone/Android, Apple or Google?

Hi.
I know nothing about iphones with all the gagdets on. I was interested in the Samsung Gal. I went locking at them, in Udon, at the beginingg of this month. I was shown the S. G. 3. It was very good. Then i asked the price, over 21,000B yes over 21KB. I said no. Not at that price. IMO. in LOS i would rather buy a mini, portable P.C. and a decent phone. and still have a lot of KB's in my pocket.
Does anyone know the price of these types of phone in the U.K. The 3G or 4G ones. as i am going home in Setember. Would it be worth buying in the Middle East, in duty free, where i have a stop. Will be grateful for all your comments.
Cheers Doug.

Doug,
Samsung have a large range of phones under the Galaxy banner.
The cheapest, in Thailand & I think elsewhere, is the Mini....should be able to get around town for about 5,000 baht.
Here is a pretty detailed list & shows UK prices so could be useful for you.
http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones ... -50006839/

I have found that Thailand is cheaper than the UK, although not by very much, plus they are automatically unlocked here where as not necessarily so in the UK.. The pressure in the UK is not so much on selling you a phone as selling you a monthly service from a provider - they will then often give you the phone for next to nothing....but not any good if you are coming back to Thailand with it.... :D :D Consequently you need to shop around a good deal to get a great price on just a phone in the UK as most companies are competing on selling packages rather than phones...
I have no idea about the relative advantages & risks of buying in the Middle East, sorry...
I have always been lead to believe that either Singapore or Hong Kong offer the best deals on electrical goods...but do have to watch out for fakes even there..
