SMS Text Messages to North America not working

Post by IanH » April 30, 2009, 8:48 am

Every year I return to Canada and keep in touch with my Thai wife via Text messages and Skype. Last year around June we found that the AIS (12call) was not relaying the messages so she switched her phone to DTAC. This worked fine until about August and then stopped working as well.

I tried calling my service provider in Canada and they said that everything looked good from their end but credited me for the price of the messages I said were not delivered.

I just tried sending an SMS from my DTAC cell to my daughter's cell in Canada and she reports never receiving it so it appears to still be broken.

Has anyone experienced the same problem and does anyone have any suggestions????????

It happened to me for the first time ever, yesterday. Might be something in the relays that aren't relaying right now.

I have sent a few text messages to Udonthani and received a few from that pleasant location. So far there have been no problems other than me sometimes putting, or forgetting to put, 081 before the number in Udonthani.

It seems to be my habit to get it wrong the first time. It is always 81 or 081 and then the rest of the number.

Rogers service is my provider in Toronto.

Hi Tilokarat,

My service provider in Toronto is Rogers as well. I sincerely believe that the problem is here in Thailand

My American friend in Long Beach CA has the same problems trying to send to and receive from Thailand with AT&T. When we SMS each other when we are both in North America we have no problem.

Have tried calling both AIS and DTAC to report the problem (having my Thai wife so the talking) but they say there is no problem at their end.

SMS works fine within Thailand.

Guess I will just have to rely on Skype :fryingpan:
