UBC sattelite on multiple TV's

Post by lee » October 31, 2009, 10:30 am

I have UBC and a couple of satellite receivers which I rent from UBC. I can watch and change satellite channels on both TV's with the receivers, the third TV is connected to one of the receivers via an aerial cable to enable me to watch whatever is program is showing on there. However If I want to change channel I have to run upstairs to change it on the receiver.

Does anyone know if there is a device that will allow connection of multiple TV's via a single UBC receiver, or do I have to have one receiver for each TV?

I've seen it done in hotels so it must me possible. :-k

If you don't mind watching the same channel on all TVs then you can use a splitter and run the cable from the UBC receiver. UBC will not perform this service for you but anyone with basic Cable TV knowledge can do it.

Lee,
I am assuming you change sat channels via the sat receiver and not by changing channels at the TV.
The way multiple signals are re-transmitted in a hotel environment requires all signals to be combined via a multiplexer and usually are boosted at that stage and then reallocated a new frequency(channel).
Viewing several signals from a sat receiver would require seperately tuned receivers anyhow.
So, in short, not a simple matter.
Much easier to add another receiver downstairs.

Sounds like it could get complicated but thanks for the information anyway.
