I bought a customized, no name, desktop, helped by advice from Bob Helm of this forum, from JIB computers located at the Central. I got a copier/printer/scanner HP Deskjet 2135 from JIB at the same time; they did all the software loading. Now that copier/printer/scanner is not working. It is certainly a fixable software error, but for now I bought a copier/printer/scanner/fax HP Deskjet 3835, and loaded the software myself. The copier and the printer are working, but the scanner isn’t; getting a lot of error/advice messages.

Did you load all the drivers etc. before connecting the printer?
Are the drivers and the printer compatible with your operating system?

Ray, you need to supply some more information about the issues.
What operating system are you using (Windows ?? Linux??)
What happened that your previous , working fine, printer/scanner, stopped working??
I suspect that you need go to the HP site & download the latest drivers for the Operating System that you are using - however I also suspect that was your problem with your original printer/scanner/copier that you replaced!!
It often takes months for peripheral suppliers to create new software to make their equipment work with the latest operating system - if ever!!
Sadly they are in the business of selling new equipment & often have no interest in supporting a product once it has passed its warrenty date!!

Done.
Went to the HP website, downloaded the software for the Deskjet 3835 and done.
Don't know if there was any problem with the disk that came with the unit, or I was doing something wrong with it.

If you are using Windows 10 then it wasn't you at fault.
Microsoft update Windows & then the original software issued by the manufacturer no longer works correctly - or, in your case, not at all.
Eventually Windows would have discovered that HP had needed to update the Windows driver & then it would have updated it for you.
