Danger Signs
Met wife there in 1971. Have been going there ever since. Why live there, a bit of a good question for me. If you ae going to live in Issan, it is one of the major centers. Udon has a good flight schedule. Udon is on the train route. Udon has good bus service. For a city in the northeast it has a fair amount of infastructure IE shopping, hospitals, entertainment, Etc.
I am familiar with Udon. I actually like NKP but does not have the infastructure that I desire. Thought of the Chaing Mai/Chaing Lai area but doubt it will happen.
Actually anywhere in Thailand that a person feels comfortable with would be fine. It is all in what you are looking for. For me Udon is tops now. Only thing I have not been able to locate is waterfront property which I can catch fish and not minnows close to town. Who knows what I will find once I arrive.

That's an ineresting subject, you may want to start a new thread in the General Udon Thani forum about this subject, so we can try and stay on this topic this time LOL! However I'm not going to complain if you don't, we have all been known to stray off topic many times. Why Udon for you?(anybody)
Anyway welcome to the forum John.

Now wait a minute! Val's gone too far and I take umbrage at his remark:
Tattoos on a woman is kinda sexy, IMO. I've seen a few with tats in the small of the back or other strategically located places that are very attractive to the eye. Gotta agree that a woman with a macho tattoo on her bicep is a turnoff, however.valentine wrote:If I was in the market, thats bang on. plus me personally would require, non smoker, no tatoos and no kids.
We often go to Pattaya my first week back to spend some time alone away from the family. I log into 2 forums there to keep up with hotel reviews (I have no idea why, we always stay at the Marriott) Anyway, If the BG's in Pattaya ever got the idea to go online and log into some of the forums there and see what is discussed about them and the BF prices that are discussed they would immediately see an increase of their bank acounts.valentine wrote:Business man. When the girls realise we have sussed them out, they'll just invent a few more. we will never be ahead of them, the most we can expect is to keep pace.!!!
Please don't ever try to save me! LOLbusinessman wrote:If we can,as a forum, save one poor soul then it will have been worthwhile. Once they have fallen for the girl it is too late, they will not hear a bad word said.
Waen had a small tattoo when I met her. Later she asked me if she could get one of those decorative ones across the small of her back. At first I thought no but after thinking about it I said yes and I do find it quite attractive, However, she refuses to let me get one myself.polehawk wrote: Tattoos on a woman is kinda sexy, IMO. On another subject, She has a friend Nui that I have never met that lives in Stutgart that is there visiting at the moment. Nui's husband has arranged his arrival to coincide with my arrival so that we can all get together. Well, Nui has braces on her teeth so now Waen wants them. I tell her that she has beautiful teeth just as they are but she says "no I want" for no other reason than to just have them. Must be a status thing. I told ther that we would talk about it when I arrive in December. I think that if she wants to spend 30K baht on braces that she doesn't need somebody is going to have to look for a JOB (by the time she is done with me I'll probably be looking for a second job LLLLLLLOL).
Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck
I was served by a pretty waitress the other day, then she smiled at me, instead of that lovely Thai smile it looked like Dracula about to bite into my veins.Tooth braces indeed. Why don't they leave things alone.Thai girls are beautiful au naturell, don't need dyed hair, tatoos, nose jobs, white skin that makes them look sick.
My wife looks beautiful in the morning without any makeup, long black hair draped over the pillow, slightly tanned skin against the white sheets.OOOH!!!

I think the same about Waen. I sleep at best 5 hours a night usually. Waen on the other hand will sleep 12 hours if I let her. I always lay in the bed an look at her. So beautiful that I can not resist taking photos of her sleeping (nothing racy). I have hunderds of photos of her sleeping. If she wakes and sees me looking at her she ALWAYS asks "how many photos you take of me?"valentine wrote:My wife looks beautiful in the morning without any makeup, long black hair draped over the pillow, slightly tanned skin against the white sheets.OOOH!!!
She also puts on that whitening cream. She was quite a bit darker when we first met and I really liked it and always try to get her to stop but she won't. I think that she thinks that I will like her less of she gets darker. I do not like it but it makes her feel good so I keep my mouth shut. However, I have already told her that they do not sell it here in the US (I lied but maybe she won't look after she gets here).

The list of warning signs is up to eleven. Now obviously there will be some good girls who die their hair or happen to have a big bit of gold so a score of two or three is probably acceptable. If the girl scores six of over i think you need to worry just a little.
1 A good command of the English language.
2 Demands for money early on.
3 A love of gambling.
4 A strong desire to leave Thailand quickly.
5 An agency girl.
6 Talking of marriage after only a few dates.
7 Too much gold.
8 Internet proficiency.
9 Western style attire.
10 Dyed hair, permed hair and plastic surgery.
11 Smoking.

A very good list. I to agree that one or two will not disqualify. Only thing is most fellas that are lonely enough to go to an agency would not usually read or heed this list.
I want to say for the few also that a tiger can change it stripes. I have seen this in the US BUT and that is a big BUT that is the very minute minority. In any relationship the word is slowwwwwwwwwwwww very slowwwwwwww. If it is meant to be, it will be.
There are a few ladies that do participate on here and I would love to hear your opinion.

Hi Kev from London, just had to join when I seen your topic.
I had read with interest what you say. I have a mate with Thai wife they found through agencies, but I've been told that they get the girl to ask for money and take a 50% cut from it. Also when the guy comes to meet her they drag him around jewelery shops to buy an engagement ring and take a huge commission there too.
I have been told that even the so called "respectable agencies" operate in the same way.
Are you saying stay away from agencies? If so how else can a guy meet a "nice" thai girl.
Kev

Hi Kev and welcome to the forum
IMO there isn't any way that is going to guarantee the motives of the people you meet all you can do is look for a lack of some of the traits pointed out above in this posting and take your TIME and don't rush into anything..
I think that you have more or less answered the agency question yourself. The agency will be in this to make money & so either you (or your new Thai GF) will end up paying!! That doesn't make it necessarily a bad deal (as long as you are aware from that from the start) and is probably the best way of finding a 'good' girl easily if you are living out side Thailand. Which agency?? One where you know someone who has had a good experience with. If you don't know of any then I would suggest that you treat any of them with a great deal of scepticism. Any 'relationship' developed at a distance needs care as I am sure you are well aware but you could try ICQ, MSN etc. it doesn't guarantee that who you talk to is a good girl but I think that is the real situation with most agencies as wellkevinbrown wrote:Are you saying stay away from agencies? Quite right, at a guess 95% of the people in Issan have never been outside Thailand, unless its Laos, what use is a passport?arjay wrote:Quote "Passport has entries to Western countries" unquote.
Galee, I think having a passport at all is a danger sign, unless she is an Air Hostess or similar.
Forgetting your name could just mean plain stupidity. Its not the stupid ones that are a problem. There was a girl that used to come into my wifes old internet place...she had a notebook and was stringing along 5 and more at a time. She just made notes of anything significant, "remembering" lots of things!Galee wrote: "Keeps getting your name wrong" .
