Testing your GF

Yes, that reminds me, I have a friend who has met several prospective GF's through the Internet. They all seem to follow a similar pattern!

He arrives in Udon or Khon Kaen, checks into a hotel, rents a car and then meets up with them in the hotel. After a preliminary chat they dine together along with the friend/chaperone/translator. He then gets invited to meet the family the next day.

The visit to the family is then preceded by a trip to the supermarket where they stock up with everything conceivable including loads of food and drink, AND the kitchen sink.

Then they head off into the outback to visit the family and party (wine and dine).

He later returns to the hotel. He may or may not sleep with her. They then part company after exchanging telephone numbers etc.

He subsequently reflects that she couldn't speak much, if any English; and she seemed more pre-occupied with her young daughter than him and what she could get into the supermarket trolley, and maybe this isn't the sort of match made in heaven he is looking for. So off he goes back home in LOS to reflect and find the next one!!!

Or you go to a new town to meet that special gal ,and there is a knock at the door and you open the door and there is 12 people in the hall to greet you !!

and that should include a few aunties and neighbours also dumping stuff into the trollies as well .
a sucker farang needs to be shared all round =D> =D>
its a once in a lifetime opportunity for all ,like manna from heaven

Just to say ,its not all bad ,I met my wife through the internet a year ago we are now married, the family did not ask for anything,just that there daughter will be happy, i had a marrage in capetown and in nongbua lamphu, I paid for the wedding,my wife is with me in capetown i have never been more happy,there are plenty of good girls out there,but not in the bars, regards designer =D>

it may not seem it but its kind of relevent might seem a stupid question but, does rain effect mobile and internet connection in rural Nonsang area? im aware that not everything in Thailand runs in the same way as back home in Europe? [its been given as an excuse for non reply by a GF]

i found that during the rainy season , i had problems communicating with my wife from england, and we have had a few storms here over the last week . hope this helps .

Thanks Saint, it makes her more plausible... but do mobiles switch to an engaged tone when it rains, or you just get unobtainable like back home when the signal goes?

Can I ask if you know what network she uses? My g/f changed from AIS to Dtac 2 weeks ago on a promotion. She went to see her mother in her home village and she lost her signal, no storms, conditions good. She said when she was here in central Udon she couldn't ring her brother or certain friends etc. Anybody else find this on Dtac? Anyway her allegiance with Dtac lasted about 12 hours and she went back to AIS so she can ring anybody anywhere anytime.

Sounds like you are a bit suspicious... Want to expand on it?

when i was in the states, always had a problem reaching the ex, and her reaching me, excuses were signal, battery, junk phone. but when i was here, i never seemed to have a problem, here, or calling family back in the states. amazing.

of course every now and then, things would act up, but not with the consistancy she said.

one time, amazingly so, i called at 2 pm, 2 am thai time, and hey the phone answered, with large party in backround, of course according to her, it was only 10 pm, wow, phone and time difficulties. WBU, 1st lie registered, the rest was too easy, blinders off.

my phone has a different tone for each humidity and temp level. modern tech, amazing.

The best way to test your girlfriend is to get rid of her and see how she reacts to :-
a) the loss of income
b) the thought of someone else sharing your bed
c) the length of time it takes her to find another sucker.

You could talk to AIS and DTAC to find out about interference in phone signals!

I had problems in the past when ringing a GF and her phone was either turned off or not answered. I was later told things like:

The battery had run out
Forgot to charge the battery
Had left the phone at home on charge
Was away from home and didn't have battery charger
Forgot to take phone with me

At the time, it rapidly induced suspicions, which turned out to be right, that she was not being honest with me.

Agreed. I wasn't living with that one and she was definitely keeping me at arm's length. Though you don't always see things for what they are at the time, when you are immersed in (the emotion of) it all.
