Living in close proximity to the inlaws

Post by businessman » January 24, 2006, 10:39 am

Quite often a chap coming out here to live is offered a piece of land close to the home of the inlaws to build a house upon.As i have said to Bob on another thread,i would urge everyone to actually live in the house of the inlaws first for a long period. When your house is finished and they are very close at hand it will feel as though they are actually living with you.

Coming from say the UK and it's small family units,it is a huge culture shock when an enourmous extended family seems to be permanently camped on the sitting room floor. It's not the case, but the families are so large there is always one of two around for a chat.

Gerry, who died recently, had relatives in over a hundred houses in his village.

If you like a little "space" i would recommend the next village down the road.Close enough, but requires some effort to reach. :)

San Fransisco sounds as good as anywhere. :P You might find your heart there somewhere.
