This is our Speecy Spicy Meatballs over rice and topped with mozzarella cheese. The Thais love it! Have it your way at Bubba's. (sorry, photo is slightly out of focus, but I think you get the idea)

Just want to let everyone know I had a long overdue medical exam yesterday at the infamous government hospital. Short report is BP and cholesterol were high, but EKG and PSA tests were good. So new meds and less sausage gravy, bacon cheeseburgers, and apple pie with ice cream should insure I'll be around a little while longer anyway.

If someone can direct me to the appropriate thread I'll post full details of my experience at the hospital. Here's one important aspect... total cost, including all lab work, 1,750 baht. That's less than the EKG alone in America!

Jun just finished a new batch of her spaghetti sauce, so meatball subs are ready to be served.

Funny how BP and cholesterol seems to have nothing to do with body size. I've had high cholesterol for years and that goes back to when I was only 147 lb. Meds didn't help, made me so weak I couldn't even do a push-up. My BP didn't go up until I completely retired and moved here, go figure. I had worked outside all my life and doc here said I had to get off my ass and quit the computer. I had a friend back in New Mexico that was every bit your size, did all the wrong things, booze, rich foods, late nights etc. Never had a problem with BP or cholesterol. Go figure. I'll be in later in the week for some cholesterol...lol.

One of the lenghthyist (if that's a word) reviews I've ever read on TripAdvisor.com:

Thanks Clifford!

Thanks for the kind words, Joe!

This weekend, starting tomorrow (Friday)... MEXICAN FOOD. Our chicken enchiladas have gotten great reviews in the past (see pg 68 of this thread) and we've had MANY requests to do it again.

Also by special request, and tomorrow only, or while supplies last, SOS and Sausage Gravy over Biscuit.

For those that live in our immediate area, Papa Farang's fancy delivery cart will be at our place midmorning offering his delicious breads, bagels, and pastries. I'm already hooked on his bagels. They are far superior to Lender's, IMO. AND they are fresh!

Hey Dennis, for some of us SOS does NOT bring back fond memories....lol. I had never seen it until boot camp. I spent 30 days mess duty at 22 Area Camp Pendleton once. The only cooks in the entire world that could fry an egg with the yoke hard as a rock and the white still liquid. Try it some time, impossible. Excuse me, I have to go to the head now.

Seriously, hope to get around, would love to get some fresh tortillas from Papa Farang. Got the stuff to make here, too lazy and no cast iron skillet/grill.

We're back from a relaxing few days In Cha Am celebrating Mother's Day and Jun's niece's birthday. We stayed at the same little hotel, Phet Chang Thai (you can see my review on TripAdvisor). Also happy to see our Pizza place was still open, although relocated. We used their free delivery service anyway. One of the best pizzas I've had anywhere, anytime. The dipping sauce was absolutely unique and unlike anything I've ever tasted! Photo below. Sorry, couldn't get the photo made fast enough to avoid a missing chunk. Place named Bella Pizzeria. Give them a try if you're in the area, the guy who answered the phone spoke perfect English, 032470980.

Then I got an idea for something we may try... a Pizza BURGER!

Almost a litter of puppies, as Roxy was very frisky with a male Shih Tzu who was in the same house with us for one day. Roxy was very amiable, but Jun kept breaking up all the fun because no terms for sinsod could be reached.

Jun is still recovering from our mini vacation, so no specials per se this week, but we are continuing our off menu sub sandwiches. Italian Meatball, Johnsonville Hot Italian Sausage, and Beer Brat Subs are available. Bread is fresh off Papafarangs delivery truck. This is the third Friday they have come by and it's working out great for everybody. Our regular card players nearly clean out the truck each week. Just shows how two businesses can cooperate in a venture that's beneficial to both. Kind of like how "cook offs" work in America. ;)

Next week will feature our all time most popular special. A free beer of your choice to the first one to post what they think it is!

We have a winner!

Yeah, kinda obvious to our regulars. It's been awhile now, so next weekend will be CAJUN JAMBALAYA. So there's plenty of advance warning. We only make one big batch, and when that's gone, it's gone. We do have standing reservations for every time we make it also. So if a real spicy southern Louisiana dish is what you've been craving, come by next weekend. Will post later if it will be ready Friday or Saturday (depends on the mood of the staff you know).

See you next week for your free beer, Shlomo (and your Jambalaya ;) )

A rainy day today, but the smell of hot apple pie is permeating the air in a very delightful way!

I made the mistake of marrying one of those Cajun cooks once, grandparents still spoke Cajun, uncle in a Cajun band. I still love the food...lol. See you next weekend if not before. Le bon ton rule'!
