So is this place still open? The website link goes to some site that has nothing to do with a restaurant as far as I can tell.

Best Regards,

I agree the restuarant serves good food and the staff are extremely polite and helpful.
Just 1 little problem sometimes the portions are a little small and last time I ordered dinner with french fries I found them hiding under a lettuce leaf. Otherwise a nice evening out :D

Good Everything Restaurant

We had dinner at Good Everything this evening, and I was expecting more.

We arrived at approximately 6:15 to an almost empty place. A Thai couple was at another table. Service was very slow for the amount of traffic in the place, and was 'Thai style'...e.g. when the dish is done, it is brought to the table with no attempt at staging the courses.

I had the special Pumpkin and Bacon soup @ 150 baht, and my wife had the Cream Corn soup at 120 baht. We followed this with Macaroni Lasagna with bacon and spinach in a cream sauce (220 baht) for me, and Spaghetti and meat sauce (180 baht) for her. For drinks, we had a pomegranate iced tea (70 baht) and a lemon ice (80 baht?). We also ordered a side of garlic bread with the pasta, and a water at 15 baht.

The garlic bread needed more garlic, and more butter, so we ordered a side of garlic butter, which was charged for in addition to the garlic bread.

The Pumpkin and Bacon soup was good, but a bit of fresh nutmeg would have gone a long way towards making it better. The Cream Corn soup was creamy, but it need pepper and salt for my wife to eat it, and she only ate half of it.

The pasta arrived and both the spaghetti and macaroni was overcooked. The sauce on the lasagna was excellent, and served in a traditional lasagna noodle would have been delicious. As it was, the dish lacked substance due to the badly overcooked macaroni. The meat sauce was a bit thin, and again, my wife only ate half of the serving.

When we ordered dessert, they did not have tiramisu, which we both wanted.

Serving sizes were adequate, if a bit small. So, you do the math, listed above comes to 835 baht + the garlic bread and garlic butter, but somehow our bill came to 1115 baht, so unless they charged 300 baht for 3 slices of garlic bread (and the butter that should have been on the bread to begin with), the bill was wrong. I looked and asked the waiter to recalculate it, but he just looked at me with the deer in headlights look, so we paid and I left. I will not be back. For that money, it was adequate at best. When we left, the place was full inside, of Thai people. Nary a farang in sight, which may explain why the waiter did not speak English in an 'upscale' restaurant aiming for a farang clientele.

This is my opinion based on one experience. Your mileage may vary.

Why assume they are aiming for a farang clientele, because it is upscale?

I do not go there for meals for reasons stated by others, notably not great value.

However we still like to go for a smoothie, or the afternoon tea set which is around 300 baht for two, a very nice mix of food is served. Coffee for some reason is too expensive and I have never ordered it there.

When we first discovered it around 2004 perhaps, they had 59 bath lunch sets, we could not believe our luck, now that was fantastic value, a loss leader I guess as they launched the business.

No, not because it is upscale, but because of the menu. Lamb, pasta, etc. are not Thai staples as far as I can tell.

Well heeled and better off Thais tend to have more cosmopolitain tastes. There are plenty of wealthy local Thais in Udon, even though the city may not look like it on the surface.

As for the lamb, I used to take a customer to the Novotel Soi 33 for lunch buffets. He did not eat beef for religiuous purposes, though would definately pile on heaps of lamb, each and every time, as he had a crazing for such meats.

I dare say the target market of Good Everything is probably 90% Thai, and maybe 10% farang. Just like at x Roma where x always says his market are the Chinese Thais, not the westerners, even though of course the menu is loaded with pasta etc. If Thais are willing to pay Good Everything's prices, why should they lower the price to attract a few more budget conscious farang (of which I am one).

Good Everything gets the thumbs up from me.

Yes, the prices are a bit "once a week treatish", but well worth it.

Good Everything has a choice of five 190 baht three course meals, my wife and I enjoyed #3 and #4 today!

Excellent meal - as was the atomosphere until someone turned on the TV news to combat the relaxing music.

Portion size was acceptable albeit a bit "modern" (not for hearty appetites).

Good Everything are to start doing a breakfast menu from Monday,10th June between 8am - 10am.
There is a choice of three soups and seven main courses plus free fresh fruit.
Prices for each course range from 50 - 130 baht......one course which may be of particular interest to farangs is the English Breakfast at 130 baht (bacon, egg, sausage, mushrooms and tomatoes plus a free mug of tea).
The 3 soups are priced at 50 baht and are bacon/pumpkin,mushroom and chicken. Most of the courses are Thai but as well as the English Breakfast there is a Ham/Cheese sandwich and Breakfast Salad.
For the first week only the first four customers to arrive daily will receive a free breakfast,as part of the Special Breakfast Promotion.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

GREAT!!! Always arrive a little early for lunch, but they have always accommodated us. Now, I can arrive early without a guilty conscience and enjoy a good everything breakfast. Never been disappointed by food or service and there is parking around the corner. Thanks for the heads-up!

This is agreeable news. My favorite hotel is the nearby JanCondotel and my preferred breakfast is chicken soup. If the heat is tolerable, I can walk from the hotel to Good Everything in about ten minutes.
