some may recall that thai buffet / retaurant "IM-DEE" ( now closed) which was 50 FT down the street
on the same side. the building now houses "khong-kwan beauty clinic" anyway, my point is they have
a large parking lot that remains 95% unused literally 24hrs a day? don't think they even charge there? :-$

Papagallo Italian/Thai Food

Post by pompui » November 5, 2011, 1:37 pm

Decided to pop in this lunchtime to order a takeaway pizza, this being Pizza Diavola (salami/picante/mozzarella) at 150 baht,he has at least 4 to choose from on page 1 of the menu, must be his favourite/popular takeaway pizzas for farang/thai alike. Was on thin crust and not bad at all being also on large 12' base. =D>
Further in the menu more different styles, margeritta 130 baht, not the drink flavoured, prociuitto 180 plus taglatielle bolognaise 120 baht.
Drinks Leo can 45,bottle presumably large 60,chang can 45,coke 20,grappa by the glass 120,amoroavena by the glass 120.
The road is quite busy but the outside table set back so not a problem, parking ok.Elio was a bit rushed off his feet with lack of staff so bear with him :D

In the interests of keeping everything on one plate, I merged another thread about Pappagallo's into this one. Enjoy your meal, and welcome to udonmap, Elio!

My wife and I ate dinner there last night...
Fast service. Decent food, reasonably priced, we shared a salad, lasagna, and a pizza, total 390 plus a 20 baht tip. :D We brought a third of the pizza home because we were so full. My wife had a coke, and I brought some wine from home with me.
The only suggestion I have, is the lasagna could have used more sauce, or been served with a small side bowl of a few ounces of red Italian sauce to ladle over the lasagna.
Plus, Elio bakes homemade real Italian bread. Excellent! Do you know how long it has been since I've had Italian bread like that? Been so long, I can't remember when.

i stay down the street there and everytime i pass by he's open. maybe they just stepped-out or were
unable to answer the phone. although in truth i don't even know how they manage the delivery thing.
as the sign says, roughly 11am until 11pm. i think they are mostly abiding by those business hours. \:D/

went last night with jonny_w, great pizza for the price, i ate the whole thing in lesss than five minutes(margaritta), i like the olive oil on the table. the owner sent out some brushetta, which we didnt order, but were more than pleased to sample and very much enjoyed. jonny_w go"s here often and i think the owner was happy he brought friends to come and enjoy. i wish there were more choices of anti-pasta(starters) selection to nibble on, before the meal. i like how the menu is only thai and english (love it or leave it itallian attitude) plus i dont htink the owner speaks too much english, fine with me.

From my single experience there, I can only suggest you make it very clear what your order is.

I sat there with my wife for some time awaiting a pizza which we had ordered, but which had been lost in translation.

We left hungry. :(

OT can't imagine Jackspratt not making something clear. However it would have been one of those fall over the back of the chair with laughter experiences for OT had he been there watching Jack wait for a Pizza that was never going to come.

OT............... \:D/

Ilio must of realized the prices were too good to be true, so the menu has changed a bit with some small price increases, still a bargain for the Udon area.

Higly recommend the spinach and sausage pizza.

I know many who wish he would add "salami" or meat pepperoni pizza.

They have a nice mixed salad too, 80 baht I believe.
