Both Whistler and JamesMichael are wrong because the best fish and chips in the world are to be had at Olde York in East York, Toronto, Ontario. As for the best in Udon, I don't know any more than they do.

Most places don't identify what kind of fish is used for their fish and chips. The fish should be flaky and a bit firm. Too many places have fish that is mushy and sometimes too much breading. After many year here, it is normally hit or miss, usually miss. I once went to a new place in Bangkok and the fish looked good, BUT, the fish itself was still cold in the center. Needless to say I sent it back and left never to return.

I agree that Andy is top notch, great guy to boot and made no disparaging remarks about Chris Bar, a man I also like. So what's your point?

OVER THE YEArs that staple of Friday, Fish and Chips has changed . Andys cooking on that side of town is well documented . over on the other sideI know STEVES bar ) FORMerly T Bar ) now moved offers two excellent . ordinary fish and Cod .
Both with excellent batter.
Do not try other places as like many once you find a good one you tend to stay with that place.

Served less often but more in recent months is the wild caught Pacific Cod loin at Chris's Place. Need to watch for the Friday specials to see when it's served. Andy does a lovely job at the baked version as well.

All the food at the beer garden is good and the most reasonably priced food in Udon from my observation. Barry also has some great draft beer.

He does crispy baguettes with various fillIngs which are truly great
