Come early next time :-)
Charlie, silly me arrived 2pm (I don't like my Sunday dinner too early) and low and behold "We've no more roast dinners"
I will say however some friends who had arrived earlier were eating their roast and it looked absolutely delicious.
I suppose I'll just have to give up or change my eating habits. Never mind [-o< =;

Have to agree Lepi, I eat at about 20:00 all week, and although I've tried a few times, I don't really enjoy eating midday on a Sunday ........

I think the Thai Chef didn't stay too long (rumour has it he was expected to do some work for his living).
If anyone knows of a good Thai Chef that's not work shy, and is available, I'm sure Andy or Tom would like to know :-k

Don't think so. As of now they have two Thai chefs, both excellent.

With respect Charlie if they had the best cooks in the land, there's no point, if there's not enough food for them to cook

They must have employed them BOTH within the last week then Charlie, coz they didn't have ANY this time last week when Tom asked me if I knew of anyone.

I know Tom asked you. He had one at the time and has hired another in the past week or so.

You are correct Lepi about the lack of things to cook and drink. They are now even shipping the Leo Beer out of Issan to Bangkok so it will probably run short soon. Already short of Chang - can only get the big bottles

During lunch today learned City Lodge is newly renovated and under new management, will let others comment with more detail.

Apparently Andy and Peter are still in the kitchen (good news), not sure about the Thai cook who frankly was also excellent.

Enjoyed the City Burger today at City Lodge, and pleased to report it was the biggest, nicest presented, and the best tasting burger I've had in Udon Thani, ever. Included cheese and bacon, potato wedges, a few onion rings, and tasty cole slaw. Gave my wife 1/4 of the burger and still could barely clean my plate.

Believe Andy is gone, Peter is still helping out the new chef.

That's good news, decent burgers here are as rare as rocking horse sh*t.
Big Bubba's serves up good burgers as well.
I'm hearing good reports about the food at the City Lodge.

Rct, what's the price tag on the bacon cheeseburger platter?

Can anyone confirm that Moss (who worked with Andy at City Lodge about 6 or 7 years ago) is the new chef

Been in today to try the City Burger, RCT is right, one of the best in Udon.
A pleasant afternoon playing pool with Dan, the new boss at the City Lodge. The Brunswick tables are out of this world, and so are the cues, a choice of 18, 19, 20 ounce weights. Rooms have all been updated to a boutique style. Moss the new chef will take some beating.
I think this is the only place in Udon with Brunswick tables.
