ANZAC DAY
Thanks Maaka and Magpie, A time of deep reflection on the selfless courage and sense of duty of the young men of our two great nations. May all serving members enjoy the day and stay safe as they continue to epitomise the courage shown by our forebears.
Lest we forget.
Lest we forget.
ANZAC DAY
Lest we forget all those that perished and were wounded.

ANZAC DAY
ANZAC DAY. A very very special day rightly specially reserved and respected by all Australians & Kiwis, and their brave allies in that horrific conflict, wherever they may be.
i.e.
Lest we forget all those that perished and were wounded.

Lest We Forget, God Save The Queen.................. .."and God Bless America". ??
Forgive me for asking, but as one of many descendants of worriors who died in this horrific event, I am genuinely puzzled; in what possible way is calling upon God to bless America relevant within the very special and sensitive subject matter of this thread??

ANZAC DAY
Clearly a pedantic, puerile and punctilious retort, directed squarely at myself, from the descendant of a worrior ... whatever a worrior is!mathusalah80 wrote: Lest We Forget, God Save The Queen.................. .."and God Bless America". ??

ANZAC Day ceremonies include many nations and races of people and certainly includes those who served alongside Allied Forces that embody both British and American Defence Force Units. I do also question what was the horrific event? Horrific events is undoubtedly more pertinent.
It astonishes me that there is often someone who finds time to scribe imbecilic and meaningless diatribe.

ANZAC DAY
To add further to your astonishment, I was rather nodding in agreement when I read mathusalah's incisive post.
While not in any way diminishing the role played by US forces in many conflicts, what has God got to do with it - particularly when reflected upon by an Australian?

ANZAC DAY
I imagine an (ever diminishing) group do Jim - but even for that group, it would be highly unlikely they would expect, or call upon, god to bless Australia - particularly as he would be flat out blessing other parts of the world which seem to have a greater need.
To avoid dragging this important thread further off-topic, perhaps a new thread along the lines of "God Bless America - What does it Mean" would be appropriate.

Jack, I can't imagine that anyone who would say "God bless America" would intentionally exclude all other countries that participate in the effort to save humanity from despots. And no, I don't think another thread would be productive on the subject. Anymore that a thread discussing "God Save the Queen" would be.

ANZAC DAY
Banjo's pleasant(?) post, dated 26 April 2012.
My response at your demonstrated preferred level:
You have clearly failed to grasp, intentionally or otherwise, my point .
That you, are apparently, lacking in the intellectual resources to call upon, other than to respond with extreme personal abuse is sad, and has engendered my sympathy, not the anger you were seeking to arouse.
Your less than subtle attempt to impress, (and divert atention from the actual topic?), by demonstrating your self assumed expertise in the English language, while amusing, was not a success either You really are having a bad day at the office aren't you!
A helpful hint to bear in mind. Selecting and using an excessive string of long descriptive nouns and adjectives, especially when combined, as in your response, with excessive verbosity , far from impressing, actually has the opposite effect to that intended. A case of "Me thinketh the man protesteth too much"
MY preferred response:
Studied Courtesy & Respect are far more potent weapons than mindless insults and abuse.
Since this is my final post on this topic, I want to clearly state, lest there be any misunderstanding in this specific regard, I appreciated your making the effort, and the respect you displayed, in posting "The Anzac Prayer"
Nevertheless, I felt your inclusion of the words "....and God Bless America", in relation to a conflict where the only American involvement was a business involvement, was, within the context of this thread, inappropriate and indicated a lack of sensitivity and/or the depth of knowledge, which might have given you pause before typing them. Perhaps pertinent, given the intensity of your emotions displayed here, you might consider YOUR likely reaction should someone post "God Bless England" on a thread honouring American Independence Day!!!!
My enquiry was to ascertain your motivation in including them, and to learn in what way you felt the words to be relevant. The purpose of my equiry was so as to enable me to arrive at a balanced and fair view. Your response has enabled me to do that. Thank you.

Banjo and Mathusula,
Is it possible for you to take your personal points scoring attitudes to another thread rather than degrade the term ANZAC and the intention of the OP and other positive contributors.

trekertony.
A completely justified comment and reprimand. My unreserved apology to all those I may have offended. I let my emotions take over when common sense should have prevailed. I am ashamed at the unintended outcome, as so correctly identified by you. 'mea culpa'

Yes! Definitely not one of my better days.
