The Richmond Steak House would be a great little venue for a forum meeting, the music is never too loud, it's en-route to the night market, buy three san migs and get one free and the food is great too. Plus they will be sponsoring the map next month. I will be posting a photo on another thread. :)

Since Richmond Steak House has moved to a better location, would like to try that place out. I really like the Night Market as a starting place, still. But if others are in agreement, lets start at the Richmond Steak House. By the way, what is the price of thier San Mig????

Too you guys and your photo of the TW (The Thumb) drinking......you really don't know what is in the bottle hehehehehehe.

I think it's about 60 baht for a san mig, but with the free one it works out to 45 baht per bottle.

The best thing is it's served by a lovely looking girl with a great smile.

The night market is located 5 or 10 minutes walk from the Charoensi Shopping Mall. From the mall turn right towards the cross roads with the traffic lights and the flower stalls nearby. Take a left turn here and walk for about 5 minutes - you cannot fail to stumble upon the night market!!
The large screen and outdoor eating area is a left turn quite near the approach to the market - easily visible from the road you have just walked down. If you continut walking you will pass the night market in its entireity and could then possibly get run over by the Nong Khai- Bangkok express train as the train station is at the end of the road (literally next to the market)
And yes - unless anything drastic changes - the December meet will be on Dec 2nd.

When I arrived february this year it was difficult to find where on this board the venue of meetings was discussed. I finaly found it in "Open forum", a sectionof this board I did not explore for some time. I would have attended earlier, if I would have known.

Then a few months ago "meetings" got their own place in the index and now it's removed "due to lack of interest"?

Go figure.

Last meeting was to be at the german's restaurant, luckiliy I came over at the night market, or I would have been the only one at Dieters place.

I did mention I was coming also.

Now seriousely, if the venue remains at the night market I will not be coming again and I am in Europe right now, back Udon late November.

Cheers

yes thats a real brain teaserImage
well i guess it would be" difficult " to find if you never explored the "Open Forum" section.

Top Tip: a search(at the top of the board) would have helped you, then you could have attended earlier. :)

Glad to see things are happening again with the meet ups and while I'm thinking of it, will you guys be doing anything special for New Years Eve or just after??

Just curious, as it sounds like I'll be back in town :D

Yeah, sure.

Firstly, how would I know you guys have monthly meetings?
Unless there is a specific topic header in the index which there was not.
It was buried somewhere in the Open forum, wondering what the Open forum was all about, I hit that by accident one day.

A search would have helped me? Searching for something you dont know!

Now why would you need a forum index for?

That's a real brain teaser :?

 I think if you show up at the night market before 8 pm you will find out where the meeting is going to take place or just enjoy yourself at the ''informal meeting'' that takes place there!

The official monthly meeting is not formal either; however some do like to turn up in fancy dress LOL.

Some members like to meet up for a few drinks and chat at the night market early on, then if another venue has been arranged some will move on there, it's just up to you on the night. It's all pretty easy going, nothing serious and just a friendly get together of a few chaps and chapesses. Everyone's welcome, wives, friends, dogs etc. LOL

is not formal either
i've been wearing my best T-shirts for nothing.

yes, meetings are very informal, as if we can be impressed, 'what a snob', or care to be impressed, or could ourselves impress. usually just provide entertainment for locals, can just image what they think sometimes. damn, foreigners must be on something, laughing all the time.

back on topic, richmond steak house mentioned as the formal/official meeting, which is usually scheduled for 8-830 pm sound like a good place. so i'll thow a vote in for that, especially for those who don't care for night market area and like knowing before hand where and when they are going somewhere.

of course that other informal/unofficial one, for those who want an early start with inexpensive food and beer, or just enjoy the night market as much as that motley crew that shows up there, anytime around 7, again, depending on that stomach. all are welcome, if you can tolerate us. then we will probably stroll over to richmond steak house and hope that beer special and server is still there. maybe lee can make it official and put a good word in, which means we'll have to show up. i did peak in the other day while out and about looking for a late night munch, and she is as cute in person. as if i expected them to be serving good at midnight.

I should be able to make the monthly meeting this time, and I'll put a word/warning in at Richmond's and let him know that the UM mob may be turning up.

Maybe they'll make a few snacks when we arrive, just incase no one turns up LOL!

I'll try and make the nightmarket, if not I'll be at Richmonds later on.

:)

P.S. I noticed last night that the San Mig promotion has finished and has been replaced by a buy 2 Jack D's or 2 JW Black's and get 1 free.
