For starters I am from Adelaide, which has a high population of English, Italians and Greeks.

I have recently start to see more people from African countries roaming the street. And personally i think this is a good thing. I like a multicultural society.

But I do not like it if they are unable to speak the local language! I have traveled to many countries in my time and in each country I try to learn the basics to talk to the locals. I also plan to live in Thailand 1 day so I am learning Thai, it only makes sense. So I think if you plan to go live in a different country you should make some effort to fit in. I am not saying to change you culture, religion, skin colour or learn to like cricket/AFL. Just be able to go to a shop and know what you are buying and say hello/thank you!

So if this makes me a racist will then I am guilty. But I don't think I am, I would never bad mouth another person because of they birth place or colour.

Personally i don't think Australians are any more racist than any other . Sure Sydney had the Cornella riots but lots of countries have had race riots.

Still that my 10 cents worth.

As for the original post. I love Australia particularly Adelaide.

It does not get too cold. It has a few really hot days, but they are dry and not humid. Anyway that's what we have air con for.

The traffic is easy. The air is clean, the wages are good. And although they say that housing is expensive. I think you get a lot of house and garden for the money. You try and buy a 400m2 house on a good size block 30 minutes out of town for 300,000 pounds in London, US$500,000 in new york or 100,000,000 yen in japan.

The only problem I see with Australia is the public transport is ----! The Tube in London, the metro in Paris and the subway in New york and Japan are just excellent. No matter how much the English complain about the tube to move 10mil people about everyday is huge feat and it does it well. The only think Londoners complain about more is a Tube strike. isn't that not ironic! ](*,)

Oh I have lived in london for 6 years and visited other cities on numerous occasions. \:D/

In fact, there is considerable discussion in Australia as to whether Adelaide is really Adelaide, or just a figment of someone's imagination.

Not that I subscribe to that conspiracy theory :D

This is true. Adelaide is Adelaide and a might fine city it is too, IMHO.

I my not have made myself clear. I am from Adelaide but I was quoting on the prices in relation to Sydney, not Adelaide.

But my point is. the size of the house and land for the cost in any Australian city to equal distance from the CBD to the previously mentioned cities would cost you a lot less in Australia.

Ahh, the City of Churches. I spent a week there one afternoon :D Seriously, a nice clean city, from which I might add a great deal of Australia's musical talent has come :D

Yes 747man, I just checked and I'm definitely of the male gender, no offence taken  And I definitely would remember if Holly had licked any part of my anatomy... =P~
I do remember I stayed down at Bondi Beach and spent most of my time there,, met a very cute girl from New Zealand and we had a great week "playing in the sand" . Another memory that remains is how short the miniskirts were. The girls sewed small bows on their panty bottoms and when they walked down the street, you could see the little bows twitch back and forth,,,,,, ahhhhhhh! great times ! Yes, I definitely have fond memories of my time in Sydney. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

If you are seriously considering a stay of more than a few days, it might be well worth your time to check with the AUA Langauge School and see if the offer a course in Aussie. \:D/ \:D/

it might be best to go much later in the year. A friend in Melbourn complained yesterday that he's about to start stacking firewood.

No, of course he didn't. Some people say things and other people actually do them.

After a while you get to know a persons character, even on a forum. Had this guy taken a trip to OZ there would be at least a page full of photos of motorcycles driving across OZ, together with a report that would give you a headache.
I stand by what I said - "Some people say things and other people actually do them"
If I am wrong I will appologise on this thread, but I doubt it.

Not to put too fine a point on it, asking for information about someplace is not a declaration that he will do anything in particular.
