A somewhat differant story than the first one(original that got deleted from P/gazette).
Lets hope the special team get to the bottom of it.
Young Brit dies in mystery fall

PATONG: A young English tourist mysteriously fell from a building in Patong early Monday evening and died en route to hospital.

Kathu Police Superintendent Col Grissak Songmoonnark identified the deceased from his passport as UK national Joseph John Nason, age 22.

Mr Nason and a friend, aged 19, had just arrived in Phuket on a flight from Bangkok and were staying at the Deevana Patong Resort & Spa on Rat -U-Thit 200 Pi Rd, he said.

The critically-injured Mr Nason was discovered lying unconscious in front of a derelict three-story shophouse on a soi off Rat-U-Thit 200 Pee Rd at about 2 am.

He was rushed to Patong Hospital, but died on the way.

Mr Nason’s friend was shocked when he learned of his friend’s death. He said they had gone out on the town that night and split up at about midnight.

He had no idea how Mr Nason ended up in the area where the tragedy occurred, which is a densely populated neighborhood not far from the Montana Grand Phuket hotel.

Police say Mr Nason was seen running though the area before his fall, though there were no reports that anybody was chasing him at the time.

He climbed into the derelict building and lost his footing on the first or second floor, falling to the ground and hitting his head on a metal support bar.

Col Grissak refused to speculate on the case until more evidence becomes available.

A special team has been assigned to investigate, he said.

The British Embassy has been informed of the tragedy and Mr Nason’s family will soon repatriate his remains to their home in the south of England.

If a person here had a real bad problem with a farang, and wanted him wasted,What a brilliant way to do it! No gun needed, knife,no violence , no evidence. So easy.Get him out on the balcony, then just when he's unaware woosh! gone.So easy!Come on! So obvious! Its happening so often nowadays
There should be a warning....beware of the balcony pusher!
What has happen to this Thailand! It was so wonderful, I am so disappointed in this country now.

Joe was my brother in law and I can confirm that this death is 100% suspicious. Joe had only been in Phuket a few hours and had not even unpacked his suitcase. Joe and his friend lost each other in a bar and his friend went back to hotel- the first his friend knew of the death was when we called him in the UK.
We have been told he fell however the coroner disagrees as he dies of only a head injury and does not have one broken bone in his body. His parents were shown a derelict building as to where it happened and every story that was been told is completely ridiculous and contradictory - from running, to climbing, people chasing, people not how was he found? His shoes and wallet have never been found. Joe did not drink much and they refused to drug test him saying they can only test for sleeping pills.
Joe was not found in his underwear either the family were told that the newspapers quoted this as they would have seen him in the ambulance.
Just to confirm Joe was only 19 and was on the trip of a lifetime and was definately not in any way suicidal.
The family are completely broken we have lost the most talented, funny, and amazing person and our lives will never be the same. This is a complete cover up and if anyone can help in anyway the family would be eternally grateful
If anyone has any advise on how can get justice for Joe please let me know

There is a very active Forum in Phuket, if you wish to share or seek further information from a more local forum to where the incident occurred:-

I read most of the UK papers on line. Maybe I've missed it, but I've yet to see an article on this tragedy. You must keep pushing in the UK, maybe get on TV to put pressure on the Thai authorities.

I take it Joe has been taken back home, so what happened then..did a Uk coroner get involved..? (or is that what you already mentioned, when you said coroner,or was it a Thai coroner.? )
Local Newspapers and even National ones might possibly take an interest, have any UK newspapers mentioned it, and what ones,? keep chasing it might be the best route, and UK police..anything..?
And as Aardvark mentioned a Thai PI is a another route.
And what about phuket based Forums...anything..?

Yes Joe was taken back home a few days after his death his parents felt that they wanted to get them all out of the country ASAP. In Thailand the official cause of death was a fall but in the UK the coroner does not agree with this due to there being no other injuries so they will not issue a death certificate due to the suspicious nature of this death and so many conflicting stories. They also told his parents that he took his shoes of to run but he had no marks on his feet and his shoes have never been found.
I am trying to join as many forums as possible to raise awareness and I am waiting for Phuket-info.com to accept me. He was in the local newspaper The Informer in surrey - I dont think the UK police will get involved in this

This is just 1, there are more out there though. ( just providing the link)

http://www.thaiprivateeye.com/

Good Luck.

Edit: Just had a read through and found this..."we will not undertake criminal investigations. " so maybe they won't be of much use sorry, you could contact them anyway, might point you in the right direction if not just have a google regarding Thai private investigations sure you will find something.

Just be careful and vigilant if you are going to use a PI. There are numerous horror stories of them being less than honest, and (apparently) not unusual for them to play double agent ie being paid by both sides of the dispute.

And even if you get referees for the PI, also be careful about the referee.

Thanks for info - I will pass info on PI to Joes parents but they are also worried that PI may not be honest and act as double agent - so I will keep pushing newspapers, MP and forums

news coverage from your country can exert pressure
net communities can, embassies etc.
but the pressure has to hit the big cop in that district for they pull all the strings
if he gets a call to clear it up then more than likely it will

some threads on thai visa about a canadian in pai
and an yank in ranong? both killed
they have suspects, court appearances
and they are still struggling for justice

be prepared for a long hard road that may in the end be fruitless

sorry to sound negative and i hope for the best

As this happened in Phuket, I am surprised the poster still hasn't raised the issue on the Phuket Forum. They have many members living locally in Phuket, who may have seen and heard something relevant. I believe one of the principals of the Phuket Info Forum runs a bar, as do several of the senior members, so may well be a party to local gossip and information.

I can't see that Udonmap Forum members are likely to be able to add anything to the poster's research, other than their interest, concern or curiosity.

Also, if the poster feels that The Phuket Gazette is not helpful, there is also a second Phuket based newspaper, - the Phuket Post.

Judging from this post they Still waiting for acceptance....But surely they will be posting on the Phuket forum soon.

If i was in their shoes i would be doing the same as they are anything is worth trying in this case, obviously they joined here and posted as they must of found us on a google search through the original story, even just talking about it might be helping a little(and i mean little) but only they know that,I am sure they know Udon is the other end of the country to Phuket but remember they are 6000 miles away from Thailand and at the moment this might be one of their only links...However the phuket forum is a must, whether anyone will post on an open forum if they 'really' knew anything would be a differant matter.

Acceptance on the Phuket Forum is a just formality and quick. I am a member, and have been for several years, though rarely post on it.
