Cable Thai Holding (CTH) & EPL 2013-2016

Post by Galee » September 27, 2013, 3:43 pm

As one who has always enjoyed my live Premiership football, I'm beginning to wonder if the service from CTH is worth the outlay. Their pre-match and live, (half time) coverage, no where matches the slick presentation that True had. I'm hoping that given time things will improve.
In the meantime I'm happy to pop into a bar and watch any game I want to see and watch MOTD on UKTV.

At B599 it most certainly is when compared with the B2200 I was paying UBC 5 yrs ago. Do you really think that a "slick presentation" pre-match and during half time is worth B1600 a month Galee?

Problem with the "Bar" option Galee is that the BIB (and most bar owners) seem to need a fair bit of convincing that staying open till 4am on a Tues morn is a good idea (although a few of the Thai Music bars seem to if you like loud music instead of an English Commentary  )........

.
Just to question prices. 2,200? Gold was 1,600.
My understanding is the 599 per mth only applies if you're prepared to pay up from for next 3 years.
Sorry I wonder if CTH will last that long.

I find their overall standard is crap whether it be footy coverage, customer services and the other channels within the package.

The wife is happy with cheap as chips basic satellite, as long as she gets the daily Ch 3 & 7 fix.
Meanwhile UKTV and sports 365 satisfy my needs at 350 a month.

I'm thinking of the overall package over the whole week, so yes I do.

CTH sues 5-star hotel over EPL rights

The company said the cable firm used the Astro signal to broadcast the games, while the hotel charged its clients cable TV fees, so CTH seeks 50 million baht compensation, plus 7.5% interest per annum.

http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews ... broadcasts

I`m guessing the Astro channel will be removed from Home Cable soon...

Re nutjob...

That seems a useful link, although I've only tried it for a short time. Even got some live cricket, first I've viewed in more than a decade!

www.365sport.tv is an alternative.
It's not free but if you pay for 6 or 12 months it is great value.

Has all the cricket, EPL, CL, League and FA Cup plus other US and Aussie sports.
Been using now since start of the season, when I gave up on CTH and never had a problem.
I am pretty rural and net speed is slow but still works fine

Thanks for the link Cliff. However I've had CTH for the past month now. Only use it for the football. The service is now a bit better now that they use the Sky pre-match programme on channel 137.

Yes, and also having scores from other games now. Don`t know if this is only on Stadium 7 (channel 137) or on all Stadium-channels, since I`ve only watched 7 this weekend.

Just wondering whether other subscribers are not receiving bills.
I think my last one was November.
A 'phone call suggested they were being generated..... but not received by me.
Are the Bangkok problems causing a holdup, although I know my local post office appears to be short of a postman/lady too?
The connection is still working - not cut off yet.

Incidentally, no reply from CTH to my letter querying why the banner which flies across the screen during pre-match intros and intervals does not contain the Palace club badge (and others?). Also, never seen a Palace display board in the background during the chats. Hope it's not a case of not wanting to bother the design for just one season.

A guy from Home Cable is coming to our house every month to get payment, so no bills are sent to us. Are you getting CTH through satellite?

Yes Svein, through satellite. The installation was carried out by the guy from Nong Wua Sor (I haven't checked the spelling, although should know by now), so Phen's a bit of a haul for him. In any event, I was receiving invoices in the post, payable e.g. at 7/11 until about a month before Christmas.

No great hassle, as long as they don't cut me off. No doubt they'll come running some time and I've been careful to retain any bills I have paid.
