Stray Dogs to be rounded up and shipped out of Chonburi Province.

At Pattaya City Hall, Khun Wirawat, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya called an emergency meeting of the Public Health Department to discuss the increasing problem of stray dogs that roam the streets of Pattaya. The Deputy Mayor mentioned that a budget has now been allocated to ensure that these dogs are rounded up and transported to a secure compound in Satgeow Province in the North-East of Thailand. A new by-law has now been introduced where Pet dogs are now not allowed to be let loose in public land. Pet Owners will now face fines of up to 5,000 Baht if caught. This is good news for Tourists, some of which have experienced these stray animals first-hand, sustaining dog bites which require hospitalization.

They did it in Phuket in about 2000 and it made a hell of a difference.

Would love to see the same occur in Udon especially in the Nong Sim/Si Khun Muang area.

The last time I was in Sakon Nakorn, I noticed that there was not any dogs running loose in that city or province. :? I guess SK has some good leash laws in effect or possibly some other means of control.

I guess their just another animal for consumption, but being a pet owner whose little dog is as a family member,it is not a pleasant topic ,nor are the pictures a pleasant sight!

But no doubt that gives delight to some!

In Nong Resort there is a car driving around, where you can ''sell' your dog and get pork meat in return. The dogs you sell is going to be eaten. First of all I wonder if it's pork or dog meat you get in return. Secondly I wonder how you can sell your dog as meat here, when you can not get to the Vet. and make hin end your dogs sufferings, if it's sick and have pain.

Buckets for dogs...

Post by FrazeeDK » April 6, 2007, 10:05 pm

old news.. I've seen the caged pickup driving through the village on numerous occassions with the PA blaring, "buckets for dogs".. On top of the truck were dozens of stacked buckets.. In the back of the truck, a mob of forlorn looking dogs.. The tag on the truck?? Sakon Nakon!!
There's a very large population of Viet-Thai in Sakon Nakon Province known for producing/consuming/shipping dog meat.. It's been happening for a long long time..

Actually I have four dogs, and one of it has a heart problem. But I have decided, that when he is getting bad and gets pain, I will give him an OD. My Thai family, from Nong Resort would never forgive me, if they knew what i'm planning to do to the dog. They think of him as part of the family, and so do I. I just don't want him to suffer.

Had dog while in Korea, delicious tasting. The Koreans did a great dish, from my understanding, dogs that are 1 year old are the best. None less than a year or older than 1 and 6 months. So Stan, your dog too old, would be really tough meat.
