It took them a while but the Thai justice system eventually caught up with a low life.

A Thai court has today convicted a British man of the 2014 murder of a sex worker whose dismembered body was found in a suitcase dumped in a river. Shane Kenneth Looker, 52, was given an eight-year prison sentence for killing Laxami Manochat, 31, in a hotel room and disposing of her body. Her remains were discovered days later when a bag was found in a river 95 miles away, in Kanchanaburi province ...

An official at the court in the western town of Kanchanaburi said: 'The defendant is found guilty of charges and sentenced to 16 years in jail but due to his confession, the court reduced his sentence by half to eight years without suspended jail term.'

He seems to have been treated pretty leniently.

Yep ...... strange place where you can get 100+ years in the calaboose for saying the wrong words about you know who, but only 8 years for cold blooded murder.

he got 16 years and because of the confession half = 8 years.
8 years in a Thai prison is the same as 16 years in an English prison - I think.

I suspect the victim being a sex worker explains the leniency. The leniency is shameful.

So here if you kill a person whose work is deemed illegal and you admit to it, about 8 years,
So rhetorical question if you kill a Policeman who is working a scam, only 8 years ?????????????????

Sentence on the British man too lenient, min 25 years with parole available after 20. in my book Profession of thevictim irrelevant .
