Most urine tests detect alcohol up to 12 hours after your last drink. Advanced urine tests, however, may be able to detect alcohol 24 hours after drinking.

Tam
Did they not say the aim of the Military Coup was to stop corruption in Thailand?
Its all very good publishing more and more sensible laws/rules. Its implementing them that seems to be beyond those that are supposed to lead by example.

I would suggest there are no real rules for being Mau.

Got pulled up on ring Rd south about a year ago, I had had two Large Changs between 4 and 6 and got breathalysed at 7:30. No way would I have been .055. I asked for a blood test.

Was told I would have to spend the night in the monkey house and they would do the blood test the next day. Brilliant, negotiated 20,000 down to 5,000 and drove of with their best wishes.
Best being part of this forum by placing the intellectual challenged on foes list. A lot less post to read and a great time saver.

I don't know, did they? I simply posted a link to a news article without any comment. Why are you trying to engage with me (again)?

Was watching the Thai police test many people for alcohol on Sunday and it reminded me of how much people can drink and be under or over.
Some people have unfortunately a misinformed personal belief when caught and blow over the 0.05 limit that it cannot be possible, as they have had only a certain number of drinks. 0.05 is actually over the allowable test limit.
2 standard drinks, probably 375mml for beer, in an hour and 1 every hour keeps you on the limit.

Let's take an example of someone having a casual drink.

You have 2 large full-strength Chang, approx 4 standard drinks, in a 2-hour period, that level of drinking will certainly have you over the 0.05 limit.
Some will be in denial, but others just accept their fate and move on without argument.
I have had to attend short courses on how to administer or witness breath tests, having administered or witnessed hundreds of breath checks, people are surprised when found to be over whatever the required limit is at the time. Most of these tests were at the start of shift on working mine sites in Australia where the limit is Zero. Some were during the day if a work site incident had occurred.
Perhaps the govt will try and reduce the road toll this time around, but maybe not.
Drugs should be the next test procedure to roll out.

I was speaking about the process with a family member who got done a couple of weeks ago - he was well over.

I was interested if was a 2 step procedure ie preliminary with the roadside hand-held device, and then (if over) into the booze bus or back to the cop shop to take a proper breath test analysis.

Apparently the 2nd step is not done here, which made me think about the accuracy of the portable device, and how often it is tested, calibrated and certified. :-k

I would tend to focus on how much I have had before getting behind the wheel rather than ponder the calibration certificate validity of the BiB's equipment. If it has gone that far, maybe it's too late to start clutching at straws. In the land of Grab, getting caught is a bit dumb.

Everyone's experience with a traffic stop DUI here is different anyway. There's the query if the forlorn farang has a wife for starters. I doubt the local drunk driver gets or needs that option. For some, any bargaining is prolonged while for others, it may be cut to the ATM.
