Re: Thailand's Police
Will their legitimate pay be suspended whilst they are under investigation?

Re: Thailand's Police
Pol Gen Kitrat Panphet, the acting national police chief, has signed the order to suspend deputy national police chief Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn and four more police officers accused of being involved in money laundering in relation to an online gambling network.

Re: Thailand's Police
Big Joke was fired by acting National Police Chief General Kittirat Phanphet on Thursday after consulting with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin at Government House. The temporary removal of General Surachate or Big Joke from government service could spell the end of his career.
Thailand’s favourite police officer has now been arrested by order of a court, found guilty by a three-member panel set up by the Prime Minister and hastily removed. In short, it means the top cop is now precluded from becoming Thailand’s next National Police Commissioner.

This is interesting. In one fell swoop Thailand's favourite police officer has been fired, temporarily removed, arrested and found guilty of ???

Re: Thailand's Police
According to your link, Doodoo, Thailand''s favourite policeman is out on bail. In addition, if you read the article, you will find that he has not been found guilty of anything; however, he is suspected of money laundering. Thanks anyway for trying to help, Doodoo.Doodoo wrote: ↑April 20, 2024, 7:43 am"and found guilty of ???"

Good choice; however, that does not explain how and why you commented on a post the subject of which you claim to shun, not to mention also provided a link for.

Re: Thailand's Police
You asked for information and The Bangkok Post is a simple link for some to locate. Others have trouble doing research to locate information, I wont give names

Re: Thailand's Police
I asked what he was found guilty of. You helped by providing a link that did not have that information. It was kind of you to try and help, but to no avail. I appreciate your effort.

Normally not too hard to prove, "Income vs Assets". Pretty hard for anyone to hide large assets, these days and even harder to hide that Houses/Condo, Car, Private Schools and Lifestyle, under the bed. Either you name is on or associated with one of them or you are a very trusting person to someone else.Laan Yaa Mo wrote: ↑April 20, 2024, 7:14 amThis is interesting. Arguably with a Base Salary in the regions of B 75,000 per month
When the ratio of Income vs Assets, equals 1 to ...............Your guess is as good as mine

Re: Thailand's Police
The PM moved the national police chief AND the deputy national police chief to the PM's office while BOTH were being investigated for alleged corrupt activities.
Only the deputy national police chief has had charges levelled against him.
AFAIK, the national police chief is still sidelined and hasn't been restored to his post.

Re: Thailand's Police
Are they getting their regular pay cheques at this time? No matter where I look, the answer does not seem to be available. Normally in Canada, police officers who are suspended or under investigation still receive their regular salary.

Re: Thailand's Police
I think that's the norm in most jurisdictions. The Met in London happily pay their suspected rapists and murderers right up until they either quit or are found guilty.Laan Yaa Mo wrote: ↑April 21, 2024, 12:05 pmAre they getting their regular pay cheques at this time? In Ontario "New legislation that came into effect April 1 now gives police chiefs the power to suspend problematic officers without pay, but only under strict terms. "

Also, the Metropolitan Toronto police union is very powerful and protects its members well.tamada wrote: ↑April 21, 2024, 3:15 pmI think that's the norm in most jurisdictions. Good point. There's unions and associations for the UK police services as well.Laan Yaa Mo wrote: ↑April 22, 2024, 8:49 amAlso, the Metropolitan Toronto police union is very powerful and protects its members well.tamada wrote: ↑April 21, 2024, 3:15 pmI think that's the norm in most jurisdictions. Re: Thailand's Police
Back on topic. The deputy national police chief was "released" from the PM's office whereupon he was suspended from the police and his case sent to the NACC.
Citing an effort to thwart his accession to national police chief later this year, the deputy national police chief has subsequently filed his own case with the NACC, citing malfeasance by the PM.
In the interim, the other boot still hasn't fallen.
