Swedish Tourist drowns at Jomtien Beach.
http://www.pattayaone.net/news/2009/jan ... 1_52.shtml

On Wednesday Afternoon, Police and rescue workers were called to Jomtien Beach opposite Soi 5 to deal with a case of drowning. At the scene, Police Lieutenant Colonel Anucheart, who was assigned to the case, inspected the body of Mr. Lennart Nilsson aged 61 from Sweden. According to witnesses, Mr. Nilsson was swimming approximately 30 meters from the shoreline when he got into difficulties. He was not seen for a while until his body was spotted, floating face-down in the sea. Despite CPR administered at the scene, he could not be revived. Mr. Nilsson’s friends, who accompanied him to the beach were in a state of shock and had already began calling relatives in Sweden informing them of the tragic news. Police confirmed there were no signs of visible trauma and they suspect he either suffered a cardiac problem or cramping, which caused him to drown. The body was sent for a post mortem examination and the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok will assist Mr. Nilsson’s family in returning his body to Sweden for burial.

Fire extinguishers failed to do the job
http://www.pattayatoday.net/index.php?a ... ws&id=4745

The fire department send three trucks and a cherry picker to Soi Paniad, Central Pattaya, after notification that a fire was raging in an apartment house. At the scene, which was a six storey building, Thais and foreigners were running for dear life.
Investigators soon found out that the inferno had begun on the fifth floor and it took all of half an hour to bring it under control. The room in question, where the fire had originated, was a complete write-off with at least 200,000 baht worth of damage including a second hand TV.

Drunk farang starts cigarette inferno

The resident of the room, Irishman Michael Joseph Trudy, aged 40, was still holding a cigarette in his hand and was taken to the Memorial Hospital in a clean sheet and still coughing thanks to inhalation of smoke. Apartment staff told police that they first detected a smell of burning and tried to put out the fire with extinguishers. However, this plan failed as they soon ran out of foamy stuff.

Staff then sounded a fire alarm, indeed a sensible course of action, and more by good luck than by good management everyone in the building was able to reach safety outdoors. Mr Trudy is likely to face some fairly horrendous legal problems once he is in a fit state to face the consequences. A fire department official said it appeared the occupant had lit a cigarette in bed whilst in an intoxicated state.

PATTAYA POLICE ARREST THAI WOMAN FOR SELLING HER 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER

http://www.pattayadailynews.com/shownew ... 0000008250

A Thai woman, accused of being an agent of human trafficking, has been arrested in her shack on the outskirts of Pattaya. Police say she has been supplying young children to foreign tourists over a long period, including her own daughter who is now being treated in a psychiatric hospital.

On 14th January 2009, a police team accompanied by a group of officials including Pol. Lt. Col. Preecha Somsatan of the Crimes Against Children and Women Suppression Division Region 2 and Mr. Supakorn Noja of the Child and Female Protection Squad, served Miss Somjai or Mam Prombut [29] residing at 123/147 Moo. 8 Houyyai , Banglamung, Chonburi with an arrest warrant from Pattaya court No. Jor. 2051/2551, issued on 22 December 2008.

Mr. Supakorn said Miss Somjai had been procuring young thai girls, less than 15 years old for middle to old aged foreign men. Each time she had received 500-1000 Baht from the customer and another 300-400 Baht from the child. She was accused of running this business for a long time

Mr. Supakorn also said that Miss Somjai had sold her daughter to a French man for sexual services when the girl was 8 years old and had continued selling her for 7 years. Sadly the girl is now in a psychiatric hospital in Nonthaburi [Srithanya Hospital].

The French man, Mr. Mr.Jean Claude Chamoux [then 56], was arrested on 25 August 2005 charged with the abduction of minors including ten children aged between 8 and 15. Further investigations lasting several years led to the connection between Mr. Chamoux and Miss Somjai at which point police managed to get a warrant for her arrest. She has denied all charges against her. Miss Somjai, an ex bar worker and according to the Bangkok Post, HIV positive, faces 10-20 years in jail and/or a fine of up to 400,000 baht

Mr. Chamoux, was released on bail but managed to escape from Thailand. He was later arrested in his room in France where police discovered many pictures of Thai children. The French police have requested the cooperation of the Thai police to issue a warrant for the arrest of Mr. Chamoux so he can be sent back to Thailand for trial where he could face life imprisonment.

Transvestites caught stealing confiscated high-heels whilst paying fines

Boonlua Chatree
Two opportunistic transvestite sex workers tried to steal new high-heeled shoes from right under the noses of police while they were waiting in front of city hall to pay a fine for soliciting sex on the beach.
The new shoes had been confiscated from vendors and were temporarily stockpiled at city hall. The footwear proved to be too much of a temptation for the light-fingered women-of-the-second-category, and they quickly swapped their old high-heels for a brand new pair.
Kilenthong Ngam Da-nga, 20, from Kalasin, and Somsamai Phuklongta, 25, were detained by police. Somsamai told police, “The new shoes were much nicer than their old ones.” His remarks that others were doing the same thing without being detected went unheeded.
Earlier in the day, on January 8, Pattaya municipal police and volunteer police on patrol had arrested 18 transvestites soliciting sex with foreigners on Pattaya Beach.
The colorful and noisy group was brought in to have reports filed against them and to pay fines at the municipal police office at city hall where our two katoeys could not resist the new shoes that seemed to be there for the taking.
Pol. Lt. Somchai Chaimananukul at the Pattaya Police Station was called by the municipal police to come to deal with the new offence.

Irish national dies after spasm
2009-01-19 / admin

Police and rescue volunteers assembled at the Sky Top Apartments, Second Road, after learning that a man had died in bed even as he read a novel. At the scene, investigators found the body of Michael John Nolan, aged 55 and of Irish extraction. There was no sign of third party intervention and death by natural causes is assumed.

The owner of the premises Miss Praiwan Traibras, aged 34, said the deceased had
Irish national dies after spasm
been renting for a week or so and lived alone. He was a regular beer drinker in the bar attached to the guest house. In recent days, he had complained of feeling unwell and had been treated at Memorial Hospital, after which he said he felt much better.

Any improvement was short term none the less. Paramedics at the scene of death said it appeared the man had high blood pressure as well as an obese condition which might well have brought on a heart attack. An autopsy will be held.

Distraught woman saved by rescue team
http://www.pattayatoday.net/index.php?a ... ws&id=4803

Posted by admin / 2009-01-19

Police Lieutenant Somchai Chaikananukoon, Pattaya Deputy of Crimes Suppression
Distraught woman saved by rescue team
Unit, Chonburi, received a report that there was a woman trying to shuffle off this mortal coil by jumping off a building in room 102 on a 10th floor at Lek Hotel located on Second Road. After receiving the call, the police had contacted Sawangboriboon rescue team and rushed to the scene.

It was a 10 storey building and investigators found one woman on a balcony on a 10th floor whose mood was one of deep depression as she cried aloud. Her name was Miss Jittip Kejornsat, aged 37 and she was attempting to end it all owing to having a heated argument with her friend, Mr. Hartwij Maitems, aged 73 and a German national.

The rescue team had spent 10 minutes to cajole her to be reasonable, and while she was totally unaware of what was secretly going on, one of the rescue members subdued her & brought her back in the room safely. Nevertheless, after the rescue, Miss Jittip was still distressed and weeping as well as evidently being under the influence of alcohol.

The police noticed that the whole bottle of fever tablets was empty and she might have taken them all. The Sawangboriboon immediately took her to Banglamung hospital to have her stomach pumped to remove all the stuff she had swallowed. It is to be hoped she doesn’t try the same thing again.

Scorpion lady takes it in the mouth.

There are visitors to Pattaya who are sometimes amazed at what some ladies will put in their mouths. Onlookers at the Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum in the Royal Garden Plaza watched on Tuesday as 39-year-old Khun Kanchana decided to attempt a weird world record by letting her husband place a live scorpion in her mouth, and see just how long she could keep it there. Khun Kanchana managed to keep the poisonous creature in her mouth for two minutes and three seconds, a world record. The scorpion appeared not to have suffered any serious trauma. Back in 2002 Khun Kanchana set a record of 32 days in a glass house with 3,400 scorpions and has since been known as the Scorpion Queen to some, and just plain crazy to others. Her husband Khun Boonthawee, is called the Centipede individual after he spent 28 days locked up with 1,000 centipedes. It’s a match made in insect heaven. Dinner parties at their place must be interesting. The Scorpion Queen is now embarking on an ambitious attempt to break her record by spending the next 33 days and nights in the company of 5,000 scorpions. A medical team from Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital will be on hand to monitor her physical condition throughout the stay. Her husband is probably off looking for a few centipedes to warm his lonely nights.

SERIAL ITALIAN PAEDOPHILE CAUGHT AGAIN HAVING SEX WITH YOUNG BOY

http://www.pattayadailynews.com/shownew ... 0000008275

An Italian paedophile who has a long history of assaults on Thai boys has been found again having sex with a young boy at the Charknok reservoir.

At 6.00 pm on the 20th January, Mr. Supakorn Noja of the Child and Female Protection Squad was notified that a foreign man had been seen taking a Thai boy into a bush at the Charknok reservoir, Moo. 4, Huoyyai, Banglamung. Suspecting a case of child abuse concerned officials rushed to the scene to investigate.

At the scene parked in the bush, well hidden from view, police found a blue motorbike [Platinum, PX 125] with no number plate. They also found a boy performing hand sex on a foreigner who was later identified as Mr. Mannari Massimo [51] from Italy. They were both naked.

Mr. Mannari Massimo, otherwise known as Allan, gave police a driving license which identified his address as 133/4 Moo. 12, Nongprue, Banglamung. Mr. Massimo had been arrested many times before, charged with similar offences.

Police searched his bag and found a video camera, a digital camera, a box of condoms and some used condoms.

According to the boy, Dahm [alias] , Mr. Massimo had taken him to this bush about three times. The first time, he approached him in front of his school and asked him if he wanted to go for a ride. Mr. Massimo told him that he would take the boy to a shopping mall to do some shopping but he ended up being brought to the bush. He was given 200 baht each time for performing hand sex on the Italian.

Dahm said he could not refuse each time the man approached him because he threatened to kill him if he told anybody. Mr. Massimo videoed each occasion they had sex.

Mr. Supakorn Noja said Mr. Massimo had been previously arrested on 23rd December 2008 when police caught him having sex with a 13 year old boy. His record of abusing boys had added up to more than 40-50 cases in the previous years.

He normally approached boys at the Wat Suthawat School. As an alternative he would take boys from the Sunee Plaza to hotel rooms instead of the bush.

Police revealed that Mr. Mannari Massimo had a wife but she couldn’t put up with his behaviour and so she had left him.
PDN writes:

The World Health Organisation includes paedophilia in the list of sexual disturbances. It is a psychiatric pathology which is part of the so-called sexual deviations, meaning disorders which involve an attraction for something unusual, like inanimate objects, or in this case, children.

There are no elements or studies which can be used to identify the causes of the disorder, nor scientific certainties. It is a psychiatric pathology and no chromosome, hormone or genetic alterations have been found which can identify a paedophile.

Italy has a particularly serious problem with paedophilia as illustrated by the figures:
- Since 1996 854 children have disappeared each year. Hundreds have still not been found
- 1000’s of cases have been tried for crimes involving abuse and mistreatment of minors. Half of these cases regard sexual violence
- An estimated 21,000 cases of paedophilia occur in Italy each year
- There are 15 Italian paedophilia organisations which call themselves "cultural"
- Italy ranks second in the world for "inclusive tours" to Thailand, sexual tourism in the quest for minor partners

Your damned right. Dirty Filthy Bastar*.

I've worried about the police making me piss in a cup when I go to Thailand...because of a joint I smoked 3 weeks earlier! This guy should have been thrown into the hole a long time ago. How does he get away with it?

One thing I love about Thai newspapers is the amount of personal information they share.
They gave out this guy's address!!

Road trip anyone? :fryingpan:

You only get bits and pieces of truth from all these tabloid type papers. It appears there
have been many allegations and he was arrested last month and is out on bail. Still, they
should have put an ankle collar on him or denied bail. Got to be persona non grata.

This is typical, you never used to really hear about stuff like this a few years ago ( I never did on
a regular basis anyway) Now, I swear, at least in Patters and it's environs, it's like a weekly event.
I want to scratch it up to just tourists being drunk and stupid but I know full well some of these
young kids and the motorbike taxi guys in particular, are often brimming over with testosterone
or yaa-baa and often looking for trouble/confrontation. Never one-on-one of course, always
6-7 to 1 often with victim inebriated or usually elderly or otherwise incapacitated. Attitudes have
just changed. They start off with what they think are harmless insults but some of us do understand
them. I'm of the school that if you're vocalizing it, you're already wrong and of course their is nothing
buddhist about talking trash all day long. Some of these folks do need to go visit the temple.

Tuesday 27th January 2009
Fisherman killed after Speedboat accident off the coast of Pattaya Beach.

On Tuesday Afternoon, Police Lieutenant Colonel Tanagrit from Pattaya Police Station was called to the North-end of Pattaya Beach to investigate a fatality. Arriving at the scene, the officer inspected the body of Khun Chaiwat aged 21. A friend of the deceased man, Khun Sutaerp aged 33 explained that the pair had gone fishing on their boat. Both men jumped into the water to search for fish after spending a few hours using fishing lines. As Khun Chaiwat came to the surface, a fast approaching speed-boat failed to see him and collided with Khun Chaiwat who sustained fatal injuries to his upper body. The speed boat did not stop at the scene of the crash and it is thought that the boat which, according to Khun Sutaerp was called “Pornchai”, may have failed to stop because of the noise of the boat engines and the driver may have been unaware of the collision. The boat and its driver are now being sought by Police.

Australian hangs himself from a Compressor Unit outside his apartment window.

On Wednesday Afternoon, Police Lieutenant Colonel Prajuab from Pattaya Police Station was called to room number 104 on the third floor of the 191 Apartments in South Pattaya after a foreign man was spotted by passers-by and it appeared that he had hung himself from an Air-Conditioning Compressor Support located outside his room window. It is thought that he had been dead for at least 5 hours, according to a Forensic Doctor who was called to the scene. Khun Warankana aged 22, a member of staff at the apartments informed Police that he had lived in the apartment with his Thai Girlfriend for almost one year. 2 days before the apparent suicide the pair had a domestic dispute and the relationship was ended. HYPED UP INTERNET GANGS A NEW CAUSE OF CONCERN FOR PATTAYA?
http://www.pattayadailynews.com/shownew ... 0000008335

Following our report of the attack on an Australian by a rowdy gang of Thais from an Internet shop in Pattaya, further investigation has shown that unprovoked attacks on innocent victims by young Thai gangs, hyped up from playing violent online games, are becoming a disturbingly common occurrence.

These attacks are not confined to Pattaya. In Hua Hin, another popular tourist destination, in October 2008, two men were beaten up while they were paying their bill in an Internet game shop. The two victims said they didn't know their attackers and had no idea why they were beaten. One of the victims just made a cursory glance at one of the gang members.

"It was just a quick, accidental look, like you would do to anybody. They just walked toward me and started to attack. I was trying to fight back but 6 of them attacked two of us, impossible", he said. "I needed 37 stitches. I hope the police do something soon".

Reporters interviewed the victim's father who said there are gangs in Hua Hin, riding motorbikes along the road and looking for victims to satisfy their needs. This gang named "Boy Devil", they are very well known to the locals.

The man said, "I don't understand why we have gangs in Hua Hin. This is a tourist town - we should keep the town safe and clean instead of a town of gangs. Most of them are Internet game players".

Gang violence and intimidation is also prevalent in Ayuthaya where Thai TV Channel 3, yesterday, has reported the case of a young man beaten up and seriously injured by a gang of 15. He had allegedly given police information about local drug dealers. Police have shown CCTV footage of the gang attacking with long pieces of wood, and even though their faces are clearly visible they have so far made no arrests. The fear and intimidation spread by these gangs both in and outside Pattaya must be stopped and we urge the authorities to take action before the situation becomes worse.
