I could wax lyrical over what I see is Copper Bashing on here, in my experience only a very FEW Poiice officers were involved but as usual, even a few can tarnish the whole country it seems. Not one Police force is perfect anywhere in the world, and I have said it before in the UK, the County Police Forces were in the main completely different from the Metropolitan Police. In terms of accountability and funding and in the Met you are just a number as opposed to the County forces where Officers names were known to the public in the area they served the majority of the time and most lived where they served.

Before any self-righteous person says anything, yes I knew a few bad officers but eventually they were rooted out and they disappeared/fired/pensioned off..whatever they ceased to be Police officers.

Must have been early 80's as from about 84 they spent their time pretending to be miners causing trouble on picket lines

The heady days of Ted Heath's battle with Arthur Scargill and his infamous flying pickets. Not to many genuine miners turned up on buses at Fraserburgh to beat up on the local cops on duty to protect the trucks of imported coal leaving port. It was the first time my dad had lined up alongside armed police drafted in from 'down south'. Luckily, he had retired before the pitched battles of 1984's miners strike.

The coal was brought in on coasters up the river Trent as far as Keadby bridge , unloaded at Gunness wharf weighed and taken by 18 wheelers to Scunny steelworks ... i know as i was there and my father weighed the coal , there were huge Qs of lorries and basically a police v miners pitched battle orchestrated by Mr Scargil, lots of money was made thanks to Maggie Thatcher.

Back to Thailand .. more evidence is deemed imissable in court and and Joes wedding is still off ......for now... also i felt so much safer yesterday going to and from my weekly needle craft club knowing the local BIB had had and taken heed of the new government memo

Defiantly not, if that happened the total police force of Thailand would = ZERO

They were never moved to an INACTIVE Post, these days suspended on half pay until fully investigated and banned from all Police locations inside their force. Nothing like the RTP .
Tzalking about leaving the country, none that I knew of, but unlike here we only had 120 odd thousand Police, here the RTP is over 250 thousand with more Generals than the American Army .

Thai policemen are transferred when corruption is exposed as people on here know. The Jo Ferrari case has gone quiet since the 27th August, his pals are probably wondering what they're going to do with him.

As the Thai and world media interest in the Jo Ferrari case subsides (and the wagons are tightly circled) so does the seriousness of the charges and strength of evidence.. cant see him or his side kicks getting any real jail time after the remand period awaiting trial and appeal.. just no longer in police , im sure a job offer will come along within politics or consultancy.

Now up to 420 cars and still no investigation into his excessive wealth ...lots of others within his local coming forward with tales of extortion and threats that of course are only hearsay.

oh and his wedding is still off..for now.

It depends. If he has connexions to top political leaders in China, he would be rolling in gravy. But, if he had no protection from top political leaders, his goose would be cooked. This Chinese triad boss was charged with running an underground casino. Note the photo in which he is with a delegation of Chinese state officials meeting with the Prime Minister of Canada. He has also made large donations to the ruling Liberal Party. The charges against him were dropped.

You previously posted an update to that story, which talks of (alleged) bent (Canadian) coppers, and some pretty hefty civil penalties against the Chinese gentleman concerned.

Especially the triad heads who got their photos taken with Premier Clark. You can read about these quality gentlemen and their politically upright friends in, 'Wilful Blindness' by Sam Cooper. It is interesting that one of the Triad heads was arrested north of Toronto for running an illegal casino out of his house. I was not surprised when his case was dropped before it came to trial. A bit of digging discovered that this quality citizen had donated a lot of money to the Federal Liberal Party. And, there was a nice photo of him with Trudeau.
