Well Thai justice might grind slowly, but it does get there in the end. Santika Club execs to be prosecuted for the New Years' Eve fire in which 66 were killed & hundreds injured. 7 people in total will be charged. It will be interesting to see if any details about HOW a club with such an atrocious escape plan was allowed to operate in the first place - but I think that will be ignored...

Managers ????
Nothing about the owner, so just guessing, well connected I'm sure, since operating outside of the normal boundaries of law or enforcement codes.

Bet the owners will skate off into the sunset unencumbered and unopposed.

I was in the Santika 5 days before the fire with a group of friends.
Really didn't like the place and felt trapped (never been one for confined spaces) I left after 15 minutes whilst the others remained.
Sadly some of the group chose Santika for the New Years eve party and one, a Thai man, died in the fire.
3 days later I took a taxi and it passed the burnt remains of the "club" and to my horror the taxi driver found the whole thing quite amusing.
My understanding is that the "club" never had any of the correct paperwork and was listed as a restaurant.
Many heads should have have rolled for this but as usual those with money walk away whilst others take the blame.
Move forward a few years and a rich kid kills a policeman, an underage driver kills 9 but daddy is rich so all ok. and a blaze at a Phuket nightclub claims lives and again no justice will ever be served.
How sad

Given the nature of the "justice" system in Thailand. I am sure many of us would have been surprised had the verdict been otherwise.
Enough money, and/or status, puts you above the law in Thailand.
