FIVE people at the heart of a major vice ring bust by Bahrain police, lost their appeals against their convictions yesterday.
A Syrian pimp and his four female "business partners" ran a stable of 15 prostitutes, the High Criminal Appeals Court heard.
The were arrested in a sting operation after police were tipped off about the prostitution den last year.
The women were his alleged business partners and worked as prostitutes as well, said prosecutors.
Fifteen other Thai and Indian women, aged between 25 and 30, worked for the Syrian man, selling sex at BD60 an hour, according to court documents.
The pimp was convicted of running a prostitution den by the Lower Criminal Court, which jailed him for two years with a fine of BD2,000.
His four business partners were also convicted and jailed for six months each. The High Criminal Court rejected their appeals and upheld all the convictions and sentences. The prostitutes were jailed for four months each and the lower court ordered their immediate deportation upon completing their sentences. They did not appeal.
