A north Belfast man has been jailed for three and a half years for trying to smuggle stun guns and tranquilisers into the United Kingdom.

Kieran Michael Breslin, 31, from Cliftonville Avenue, was arrested by HM Revenue and Customs officers in November 2007.

He was arrested at Heathrow airport after arriving on a plane from Bangkok in Thailand.

Nineteen Taser guns and 60,000 Diazepam tablets were found in his luggage.

Breslin, who appeared at Laganside Crown Court in Belfast, will serve a year on probation following his release.

John Whiting, assistant director criminal investigation at HMRC, said Taser guns in the wrong hands could "cause fear and intimidation".

"The combined seizure of drugs and prohibited weapons shows Breslin's total disregard for the harm these items can being to our communities," he said.

"His sole consideration was making money with no consideration for the harm these items can inflict."

I know of some people who have taken one back home but 19 and a load of tablets.Maybe his excuse that one taser gun per family member and his lifelong personal use of the tablets did not go down well.
Presumably he exceeded his luggage allowance just a tad!
Anyway are the taser guns still available to buy at centrepoint and upstairs in the complex? How do you know if they are any good,are you allowed to take one on a trial and then zap a soi dog and see what happens?

Maybe take a large stick with you as well pompui, just in case it doesn't work....

As for the offender...well, what can you say, except I guess a fair bit of the sentence must be for the drugs...

There is a good chance that the Valium he had were ''boots'' containing very little of the Diazepam ingredient!
