The Sun, its inactivity and exploration

Post by BobHelm » April 27, 2009, 10:21 am

Couple of inter-related items from UK Sunday papers I thought were of interest.

Sun is undergoing a period of inactivity unknown for years, in the past these periods have coincided with World Changing events...

Scientists are launching a couple of missions to investigate the Sun. Surprising (to me anyway) just how little is understood about the provider of the world's heat & light...

p.s. I realise that this could easily move towards another "Global Warming debate" but please don't let it - there are threads already available for that..... :( :(

sounds like the usual fear monging and some very nice gov't contracts to study and investigate. like anything could possible get close enough to the sun to be productive or informative. as if they know what to look for. their experience with the sun and changes and what it would all mean..........oh.......comes from all the other suns they studied.
