So you can't get out of the shower naked in your own hotel room? Sorry but that was a presidential's suite and the maid didn't get in there by mistake. This feels like a setup.

I would think that the head of the IMF would have some security around to prevent ''mishaps''!True or not,I would bet he is not convicted,but his political career probably took a major hit!I understand he was the major opposition candidate to Zarkosy in the upcoming elections!!!!Hmmmm,politics anyone?

Once his lawyers see the hallway security video, a settlement will be reached with the maid, and the charges will be quietly dropped. Its called justice for the rich / powerful.

It's all he-said-she-said at this point......but if his skin is under her fingernails (dna being checked), it'll be history files for this guy.

"Strauss-Kahn emerged from the bathroom naked, chased her down a hallway and pulled her into a bedroom, where he began to sexually assault her, the woman told police, according to the AP. She said she fought him off, but he then dragged her into the bathroom, according to the account."

For those who like conspiracy theories, there appear to be two immediate beneficiaries (irrespective of whether he is found guilty of the alleged attack or not).

1. President Sarkozy - Dominique Strauss-Kahn is (or now probably fair to say, was) one of the leading contenders in the forthcoming French presidential elections.

2. The speculators who are currently attacking the Euro.

Hah.!!! Innocent?? He hopped in a taxi leaving personal items in the hotel room according to the account and went straight away to the airport and hopped the first flight (First Class!) to Paris.. Dragged off the airplane as they were getting ready to pull away from the jetway..

Apparently this IMF fella and the maid didnt have sex he just touched her up , rumour has it she used to work in DnN as a cashier and fell pregnant 1 hour after the incident , she now wants 6k compo ........... ive heard this one before ??

IMO Sarkozy set this fella up tp discredit him , as hes a potential challenger for his job , tho after reading his history he does like the ladies a bit of a cad , so he probably did have a fiddle with her.

It might be a fiddle in France, but in NYC, if he's found guilty, he'll spend more than a few years behind bars.....maybe spend some time bunking with Bernie Madoff.
On the subject of conspiracies, surely there must be a theory about the Clinton/Lewinsky episode being a setup by the Republican party. I mean, no sitting president in his right mind would let an intern clean up under his desk....and then let her walk out with the stained dress to boot! In his case, he mostly walked because the episode was consentual. Loss of face and such for him, but no threat of jailtime. In Strauss-Kahn's case, if the girl wasn't serving 'coffee-tea-or-me', he's in a world of hurt. Woe be he if his skin is under her fingernails!

If it was part of a conspiracy against the Euro, prompt action by the IMF in appointing John Lipsky as acting managing director of the IMF appears to have scuppered it (so far).

When I first heard this story my original thoughts were "set up.".......now I'm not so sure.
Maybe just another mega rich guy who thinks he's above the law and can do what he wants with women,particularily those who might appear vulnerable.
And why did he leg it to the airport mega quick right after the alleged assault took place ??

Well, he did have an aeroplane to catch, and a dreary meeting with the Germans to discuss the problem of the debt in Greece.

Remember, he is not your normal super rich guy, but, like the other darling of the left - Naom Chomsky, a socialist mega rich one.

France might get a bail out but Strauss-Khan wont be getting bail in the near future,methinks.
All that money and power down the drain......what wouldnt Strauss-Khan give just to pay 6k baht now and the matter be forgotten !
His career is in oblivion now,although I believe his name is already been discussed as a future chairman of Scunthorpe United FC in the future !

It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

A couple of question marks arising over the breathless indictment to the press by the NY Police eg

- did Strauss-Khan "flee" to the airport, or was his flight booked for some time?

- in his rush to "flee", did he just leave his phone in the hotel suite, or did he forget it? Would he have only 1 mobile phone?

I await future developments with interest.
